There used to be someone who sold water soluble ADEK Vitamins that

posted regularly here (or knew where to get them). I can't find the

thread in the archives, but would like some information on this if

anyone remembers.

I am bruising quite easily due to the lack of vitamin K (contained in

green leafy veggies) as a result of eating a lot of protein. I would

like to include Vitamin K into my regimen of vitamins.

Anyone have any information? I would appreciate it

Thanks,

120 (plus - don't know exactly though) gone forever!

You can order ADEKS right from the Scandafarm website. They are

currently back ordered though.

Here is the link:

http://63.241.173.61/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY & Store_Code=ASOS

& Category_Code=ADEKS

Because they are back-ordered I went to my local pharmacy to get it's

called Eckerds. They didn't stock them but they were able to order

them and they were there within 24 hours.

You can also get them from Medichest. Here is the link:

http://www.medichest.com/adeks.html

Some people also order them Cystic Fibrosis Association because they

are a lot cheaper. But you have to lie an say that you have Cystic

Fibrosis to get them.

Dear :

I too was bruising but when Dr. A checked my levels they were fine so I began watching where and when I was getting bruised. In my case it was mostly because I was now thin and without that padding of fat when I bumped into things it really bruised me and I still get occasional bruises on the inside of my knees where my knees hit during the night. I found a large bruise over my right hip bone and there was a tender lump under the bruise and for the life of me I could not figure out where it came from the 3 days after I found the original bruise and lump, (it was just about gone by then) I was walking past the car in the garage and smacked my hip in the exact same place on the side view mirror! The lump that came up was the size of a goose egg and was bruised within 30 minutes and ouch was so sore but at least I now know what happened. So I guess what I am trying to say is that unless you know for sure, (I asked Dr. A and the nutritionist) that you are low on vitamin K you may want to watch to see if you are bumping yourself, now that my bones are so close under the skin I am forever getting bruises on my shoulder or forearm.

NO, this is not true, at least as of lately. I just placed my personal

information with the Cystic Fibrosis Pharmacy (my PCP will follow up with

the call to place the prescription with them). They asked why I was

ordering with them and I told them I was having bariatric surgery and was

told that was just fine. It comes as 60 tablets per bottle at a cost

of $13 per bottle. If two bottles are ordered than there is no shipping.

no, you don't; if for some reason they won't let you order them based

on telling you are having bariatric surgery, all you have to do is

ask your doctor to prescribe them and you can buy them from the CFA,

no lying needed.

Water souluble ADEK's are available ( by perscription only) for $13.00, 60 tablets a bottle from Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. If you order 2 your price is $26.00, any order over $25.00 doesn't have a shipping and handling fee. They do fill our scripts for us, you do not have to have cystic fibrosis to buy the ADEK's from them. The # to reach them is 1-

Stella;

I just looked on the site and one of the printed conditions of

registering as a customer is stating that one does in fact have

the diagnosis of CF.

If they go ahead and take a doc's Rx, it sounds like they are

throwning the 'lying' or whatever it is, over to the medical

professional.

Before I read your above response, I sent them the following

email. I will be interested in getting their reply and will share it:

MY MESSAGE TO CFA.ORG:

<<Why must a customer be diagnosed with CF in order to use

your pharmacy sevices?

There is at least one other medical diagnosis that requires

ADEK water soluble vitamins which are only available by

prescription.

I discovered your web site on a medical support list and was

warned that we must 'lie' about having CF in order to do

business with you.

I'm not happy about lying and I can see no medically ethical

reason for you to exclude business from others in need.

Isn't any business appreciated by you? Isn't all good will among

those in medical need good for one and all?

I am interested in your response to this. I've never come across

this 'exclusivity' situation before. One would think you might be

senstitive to what it is like to be excluded.>>

Hi,

You DO NOT need a prescription to buy ADEKs. I get them from my

pharmacy (without a prescription, I just ask for them) and they

charge me $23 a bottle. I think I will get a prescription from Dr.

Ren and save $10 a month and order them from the CF foundation. You

just have to tell them that you have malabsorption.

Gobo,

I recently registered on the CF site but it didn't go through so I called and registered via phone and when asked said no I did not have CF but a malabsorption problem and she said okay. My precript was faxed to them and the pills are on the way....no lying needed.

I will also be interested in their reply. There are TWO ways to register at

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. One is to call and provide information. You are

NOT asked whether you have CF but I and others have asked point blank whether

this is a necessity. I have talked LIVE with customer service reps at the

Foundation. They assured me each time that this is NOT a requirement. The

other format, the form you sign and fax in, is to guarantee that you are not

someone who is re-selling the vitamins and making a profit or some other

situation where you would be 'taking advantage' of the low prices. At least,

this is what I was told.

I think the form and fax is an antiquated way to register and perhaps they

need to reword or adjust that form. However, registering by phone is JUST AS

VALID. YOu cannot just have the surgeon provide a prescription without

registering yourself. This must be done by you and LIVE with a

representative. I do not think it is 'lying' to any degree or a way to 'get

around' the faxed registration (I don't even HAVE a fax machine) since I

directly asked and informed them of my condition. ANy phone registration

does not require a declaration or anything to that effect. And, this is

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation policy. They have different methods for

registration by phone than by fax.

Now, if someone withheld information intentionally, that to me would be a

form of lying. If someone does not own a fax machine and prefers to register

by phone, fully informing the reps that their malapsortion is NOT a result of

CF and the foundation states that this is not a requirement, then that is NOT

lying, IMHO. If Cystic Fibrosis Foundation does not put a priority on

updating the wording of their website, that's their perogative. The choice

is EITHER to fill out the form and fax it OR call to register. Calling is

much more immediate and accurate and I'm going to take the word of a live

representative over a form on a website. :)
