Guest guest
We received 's new P/M's last week. We switched out her old ones to new ones on Saturday. Saturday night was her first night with the new ones on. Anyway, she now has a blister on both heels. I can't figure out how she would get a blister there. The P/M's are completely smooth in the heel area. The only difference in this new pair compared to the old ones is the back comes up a lot higher on the calf. Too high IMO. But would that cause a blister? I also find it odd the blister is formed now after she has been wearing them 4 nights. If there is friction of any kind, wouldn't the blisters be formed the first night in them? My husband put them on at least 2 of the nights, I wonder if 'his' technique is the culprit. No offense to hubby, but he just can't put them on like I do. has never received a blister from the previous P/M's, so I am wondering what is the dill-e-o. Has anyone else experienced blisters with the P/M's? I am going to take pics tonight of her blisters and shoes and post them on CFPics tomorrow so you can see. and 03-02-04, bcf, P/M's 14-16 hours

Guest guest
Ah man, that sucks! Not a good thing. The important thing to note about blisters is that (if they're true blisters, bubbles filled with fluid) is that they are caused by friction. Which is the foot moving and rubbing in one spot. So I would have to default to them not being tight enough. Can you get them any tighter? Maybe you will need to poke an extra hole in between the others? As you know, they do stretch a little as they're worn, so perhaps they're seeming tight at first and overnight they get a bit loose. So if possible, maybe go that extra hole in the straps and see if that helps? I don't know what to say about getting it healed. We have had a heck of a time with that sore Darbi got on the top of her foot when she fell. It was just an abrasion and it turned into something much, much worse because she wore her shoes over it. In the end, I put her back into them (After 2 nights off) and left the front strap loose so that it didn't press on her sore. That has worked fairly well. But it still has taken a long time to heal. Still got a scabby thing there after nearly 3w (maybe longer??) and I think it'll leave a scar. It still looks like a crater :'( Sorry I'm not much help. I'm still new to these things! I don't however see how that rubbery heel thing could cause any problems. And I am assuming it was lengthened so that could qualify these as AFO's for insurance purposes. It's so rubbery that it serves no purpose that I can tell, and I can't imagine that it could cause any problems. It just flops around there doing nothing. Hope 's blister heals quickly, and do let us know how she's doing and how you healed it. I wouldn't start cutting holes in 's shoes though! lol Kori At 06:19 AM 6/30/2005, you wrote: >We received 's new P/M's last week. We switched out her old >ones to new ones on Saturday. Guest guest
Thanks kori. I will have to see how the blisters look this evening. I haven't seen them since last night before I put the shoes on. I put on enough Neosporin for an adult size open wound, plus a band-aid! I work full-time and hubby drops the kiddos off in the morning. Our lovely daycare provider takes the shoes off at 10:00 AM. She hasn't called me so I am assuming her heels look good. We'll see. I still plan to take pics tonight, or at the very least, of the shoes. I think I put them on pretty tight, but I will make sure they are super tight tonight!!! The blisters don't seem to bother her, but they bother me, LOL!!! It has to hurt. I know when I have a blister, you would think I was 's age, wah, wah, wah. My dh always makes fun of me. I'll give an update tomorrow. Guest guest
We swear by liquid bandaid. I've used it for my own blisters and it rocks! Only problem is if you put it on an open blister, it stings like crazy (I did this on my self, not Aleksander). After the stinging goes away though, it is pretty numb and doesn't hurt at all. It also works well to prevent further blisters. Worth a shot anyway. > >We received 's new P/M's last week. We switched out her old > >ones to new ones on Saturday. Guest guest
Sorry to hear about the sores. Hope her heels looked better this morning. We haven't had any trouble with any of Rachael's sandals so far. Well I take that back, I think that her last pair gave her a tiny sore on the side of her foot. One of the holes on the side wasn't punched all the way through the rubber and it rubbed her foot. We fixed that quickly. I'm obsessed with her feet getting any sores on them. (i think we're all like that here ) I know my husband likes to put her sandals on too loose. He's afraid that they'll be too tight around her little feet. I'm always checking his " work " when puts her brace on and I usually end up making the straps tighter. He just doesn't want his little girl to be uncomfortable. Got to love him for that. Maybe her socks are bunching up around her heel. It seems funny though that both heels would have sores on them if the socks were the culprit. Sorry I wasn't more help. Guest guest
Been gone a while and am just catching up. Try Lanisoh lanolin cream on existing blisters- heals them up nicely.
