Guest guest
Okay, I am curious if my 2.5 year olds nighttime congestion is related at all to the metabolic issues related to mito? She Is not congested during the day- only at night, but becomes uncomfortable and just wants to sleep on my chest…Also, I am hesitant to give her just any decongestant, due to some nuerological issues ( the basics in mito). Any suggestions or thoughts. I would love to hear them. It seems to come on often and last awhile…. Guest guest
This may be a virus going around right now. An adult I was talking to has sort of a cold and the congestion is worse at night. Laying down will bring that on. And may be laying on your chest is more comforting. I remember many a night doing that with my now 6 year old. And even my healthy ones I would do that with them. Have you tried elevating the bed at all? Running a mister in the room at night? Is there a decongestant that may work for your child? I know we always need to be cautious, but there are some medicines out there that do work for our kids. Hopefully as they say, this too, shall pass. Hope you are getting some rest. Guest guest
At first my son was only congested at night. Now it is all the time. Back and we still use a small cool mist humidifier in his room. It makes a world of differance. Yes we still have times when his breathing is so bad he needs the O2 or other meds but this is a simple way to help it out. My little guy is only 20months and we have been using it in his room for a year now. Right now since he has such trouble we have one in his room at night and a large one in the hall for the house. Not sure if it will help your little one but it doesn't requier a needle. Is it mito related? Well with my little Eli it is. His little brain is so affected by mito that his respitory is the main thing and will prob. cause his death. He has a terible time with swallowing and has had a g-tube since 6months old. When he was born he had kind of a shallow snor when he took a breath even though his breathing was strong it was strang even to the docs. As time goes on and his body is more affected his breathing and congestion gets worse. He has only had two major colds in 20months but in the last month he has had near pneumonia three times. So asperation is more of and issue. http://www.caringbridge.org/co/elijahkurtz God Bless and I hope you find something to help Ann > Okay, I am curious if my 2.5 year olds nighttime congestion is related at > all to the metabolic issues related to mito? > > She Is not congested during the day- only at night, but becomes > uncomfortable and just wants to sleep on my chest. Also, I am hesitant to > give her just any decongestant, due to some nuerological issues ( the basics > in mito).
