Guest guest
Cough variant asthma is asthma where one coughs instead of wheezing. Sometimes you need to treat with atrovent and a med like albuterol at the same time.

Guest guest
I have this... All my tests (pulmonary function, methacholine challenge etc) come back indicating I have asthma, but I have never actually been wheezing before... the first hint was that I had 'bronchitis' for a year and half... they finally said maybe it wasnt bronchitis, and tested me for asthma... mine was mild, and taking pulmicort, and ventolin when needed has completely controlled it... Guest guest
Gracie's asthma is considered "cough varient asthma" because she does not wheeze, only coughs. Dr. Cohen had originally brought it up, but it was actually diagnosed by her allergist (who also specializes in asthma.) For her when she is having problems the coughing is so bad it makes her vomit. She now takes Pulmicort (steroid, aresol) when it is really bad, and a she also uses Albuterol for sudden attacks. Best wishes. Find the music you love on MSN Music. Start downloading now!
