Guest guest
Karon W, Who is your insurer. Aetna and Cigna are notorious for requiring histories, but some other do not. Pull together a spreadsheet with all the info you have. Get your medical records to confirm your weight. Submit all that you have. It will probably be enough, but it seems like insurance submission is a bit of a roulette wheel. Hull > I am a newbie and waiting for my First Consult. Guest guest
Karon: I am sure, as the rest of us, you must have been a member of Weight Watchers or Diet Workshop or other similar support group. These groups do not have any records so you cannot be expected to produce any documentation. Your insurance company will not ask for any records from them. They can, however, be considered organized/supervised groups. You may also want to list the occasions that you have discussed your MO with your PCP either in relation to other co-morbidities that you may have or just because the PCP was concerned about your general health. List all those Atkins, Cabbage Soup, Grapefruit, SugarBusters, etc diets you have put yourself on. Give dates how much you lost and most importantly how much you gained back (if you are like most of us this will be more than you lost). In addition, put something together regarding your family history of obesity and MO. Ask about relatives that you never met as well. If they are deceased, list what they passed away from and what other illnesses that they suffered from. (you know like: Great Aunt Jane, weight 240, passed away at age 50 from a heart attack, also had diabetes, joint disease and high blood pressure). You will be surprised (I know I was) as to how many women in your family were obese or MO. People I had never met. This family history can be another factor that can help your case with the dreaded insurance company. Good luck to you, Kathie from MD Re: No Supervised Weight Loss History? > Karon W, > > Who is your insurer. Aetna and Cigna are notorious for requiring > histories, but some other do not.
