Guest guest
, I used to have electric shock-like sensations in different parts of my body, mostly my legs & feet, but sometimes my head, arms, chest. I rarely have them anymore, maybe 3+ years of immune suppression took care of it. Hopefully, others will respond. Have you mentioned this to any of your doctors? If the ear pain persists, definitely get it checked out; it might not have anything to do with sarc, but could be another issue entirely. Ramblin' Rose Moderator A merry heart is good medicine. I have them every so often...not at all on a regular basis. Today I have been having really bad shooting pains in my left ear throughout the day. I have had them on previous days in the sides of my stomach. Just wondering if anyone knows what these are all about. Thanks... in UT A place for moms to take a break! Guest guest
Stu, those wonderful shooting, shifting the body parts to other body spots pain is the wonderful effect of a lack of calcium/magnesium in your body. Since you are on high dose solumedrol-- your body has leached all the calcium and magnesium from your system, and the effect is the toe dance. (Yep, I do wish it would choose another partner) If you can't take calcium-- at least increase the magnesium you take. WARNING-- MAGNESIUM IS THE MAGIC COMPONENT IN "MILK OF MAGNESIA." Increasing your potassium would help also. Do you take Plaquenil-- hydroxychlorquinine? AKA-- quinine? This was the cure for scurvy- a condition caused by depletion of Vit C-- however the one side effect of quinine and Plaquenil is that too much can cause visual problems (blindness- stop taking it, your vision comes back). It is interesting, as both calcium, and Vit C are suspect in some research as being part of the problem with sarc-- but it's one of those eggs-chicken first thing. WE know we don't process calcium correctly, but with all the steroids- we become seriously depleted. Vit C is an "interaction" vitamin when combined with calcium-- they don't like each other-- so take them at different times of the day. The Sept/October issue of ARTHRITIS TODAY has a great article on vitamins and minerals-- get a copy or go online to arthritistoday.org. Guest guest
Hey : Dont have a clue what they are but get them all the time, my favorite ones shoot from the backside of my ankles up my calves and usually cause my to whimper like a small child, an interesting and fun souond to hear from th guy seated next to you in church or at the movie Im sure. Then there is the OTHER one, the BAD one the one that makes me want to jump off the local cliff and learn first hand what it feels like to skydive, but without benefit of the woosie landing with a parashoot, just give it to me straight baby cuz Im ready for that hard stuff when the OTHER one comes along. This is the one where my middle toe on my left foot, (no smartass Im not makin this up), moves as far to the left as it possibly can, no I dont mean reasonably can, I mean as far as it possibly can without breaking off, although it feels like its aboutt to break off, oh and by the way diid i mention that Im not the one moving it, no some unknown entity is in there somewhere doing the hard work for me, as as it moves a white hot poker of pain slowly shoots up through my foot, up my leg, rmrember its moving slowly so i get the benefit of feeling it move alongits pathway and through every bit of my body that it passes on its way until it reaches its destination which for whatever weird reason seems to be a spot on the front of my upper chest about even with the center with my left shoulder blade where it feels, (no kidding) like it tears its way through my skin getting out. Once it has made its circuit, which can take up to half an hour or so, or as I would judge it three to four lonnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggggggg eternnities, then the toe just dances back and forth for a few hours or days or whatever it feels like without the shooting burning pain, but plenty of breaking tha damned think off pain, thne it stops and we wait for the next performance which might be tomorrow or next month...... damn I love this disease!!! STu PS Anyway, I have no answers as usual, just understand what your talking about, oh yeah and PLEASE: Dont let Rose see the exclamation marks shell be on me about them again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > > Has anyone noticed shooting pains anywhere in your body? Guest guest
,Have you possibly had shingles? I had it in Jan. and had major shooting pains. I was in a nursing home/rehab facility and was able to get major drugs, but they didn't prevent the pains. I still have some problems with this and am taking lyrica and morphine pills. If I try to stop taking them, the pains reappear in just a couple days. I may have to keep this up forever. Kay Shooting Pains Has anyone noticed shooting pains anywhere in your body? Guest guest
Hi , I'm not sure what causes the 'shooters' but I get them too, mostly in my hands, feet & low back. Kind of like stubbing your toe or hitting your thumb with a hammer. It goes away after a few minutes but it's painful enough to wake me if I'm sleeping. The worst ones are in the ears, eyes, or just about anywhere on the head...like being poked with a sharp object. I read about neuralgia: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001407.htm It fits but it doesn't so I guess I'll keep looking. Peace, Tony

Guest guest
Carla, I also have problems with myeopathy in my legs when on prednisone. Even if I do a dose pak I can get it after one dose. How about you? I am on Imuran 150mg per day increasing to 200. Unfortunately, I have an upper respiratory infection that I am fighting and as you know when you are on an immunosuppressant, that can happen. Well, I hope you have the best day possible. We are awaiting parts of the tropical storm - we really need the rain (Eastern Virginia). We are down about 9 inches. Terri G.
