- Why were you denied by UHC if I may ask? I

have my consult on Monday 7/30 in San Fran. I have

UHC PPO with Wells Fargo. The surgeon's office

inferred that the insurance " should " cover the

surgery.

Any insights would help. - Melodie in Colusa.

Melodie:

I was denied because my company, BellSouth, wrote an exclusion into

the contract with the insurance company. It says that for any

surgical or other medical treatment of obesity is an exclusion. UHC

is usually pretty good about approval, that is why I chose them,

unfortuanatly when I asked repeatly prior to switching to UHC they

told me there was no exclusion. If you company does not exclude wls

in their contract with UHC you should be ok as long as you meet the

other requirements.

Good Luck,

Melodie,

I have UHC through Wells Fargo too. I'm assuming you work there? I work at

the TBC in Sacramento. Is your consult with Dr. Rabkin in SF? I almost went

to him, but decided to travel the distance to see Dr. Anthone in LA because

he was within the network. Let me know how it goes.

,

Are you sure that the exclusion clause refers to " morbid obesity? "

It's not clear from your post. " Obesity " and " morbid obesity " are two

different medical conditions.
