Guest guest
Hey, does anyone have sarcoid in their nose? I have a growth inside of my nose, and my EN & T doctor says its sarc and wants me to have it removed. He also wants to remove my adenoids as well. The growth is blocking the passage of air in one of my nostrils. Any thoughts? Guidance? I have an appointment with him next week. Naa Koshie Hi Naa, I have sarcoid in my nose. I have not had it removed, I do use Flonase spray, and seems to help. Take care,
Guest guest
Naa, I don't have any experience with that; hopefully, others will respond. Was it biopsied, or why does he think it's sarc? If it's affected your breathing, I can see removing it, but I'm curious about the adenoids. Are they interfering with breathing, or causing sleep apnea? Adenoid surgery, like tonsils, can have major complications, although modern techniques have greatly reduced the incidence. I tried to find some info on risks of adult adenoidectomy, but nearly everything related to children. I did find the following on a q & a board. If these concerns haven't been addressed already, you might want to bring them up with your doc. It would be distinctly unusual and abnormal for an adult of 47 years to have enlarged adenoids. In individuals who have not had their adenoids surgically removed, the adenoid tissue will atrophy, usually in late teenage years to the point where only minor barely visible remnants persist into adulthood. In adults who have signficantly enlarged adenoids, one needs to initially rule out the possibility of serious health problems such as immunological problems or neoplasm. (malignancy. . .Rose) Even in the absence of associated ear problems, the presence of significant adenoid enlargement, particularly if associated with some degree of nasal airflow blockage, would warrant at the very least a biopsy of the tissue. It might also be advisable to consider a CT scan of the area and possibly an immunological workup. As an aside, signficantly enlarged adenoids or any mass in the naso-pharynx would commonly be associated with some degree of ear symptoms. Guest guest
I have been having trouble with breathing through my nose for several months but haven't seen a doctor yet. I suspect sarc because I can breath through my mouth fine. I just hate to get another doctor in the rotation but I guess I'll have to. Guest guest
Naa, Sinus sarc is not that unusual. I had surgery umpteen yrs ago, and I was so much better afterwards. To open up those passage ways made a huge difference, and I'm not getting near the number of infections, plus I can breath thru my nose! Guest guest
, I haven't been able to really breathe out of my nose for a long time. I have a deviated seuptum and an overgrowth of the inferior turbinates but I haven't wanted to do anything because of my neurological issues. My husband says my snoring gets worse all the time but I can't imagine it is any worse than his or the dog's. I do have to admit though that lately, I have woken myself up snoring but I think it is because it is so quiet with him in Hawaii. Well, that's my story and I'm stickin to it. >> I have been having trouble with breathing through my nose for several months but haven't seen a doctor yet. I have to admit that for YEARS-- I would poke in the ribs, pull his pillow out from under his head, make him roll over (we're still working on the play dead part)-- and dadgum it-- I had sinus surgery and he immediately stopped snoring. Guest guest
I have Lupus Pernio, cutaneous sarc of the nose, which is one of the more 'fun' parts of the disease. http://www.ghorayeb.com/CutaneousSarcoidosisNose.html In the beginning, the lesions were only on the inside of my nose. I had no clue what sarc was at that time so I assumed that the nasal problem was associated with my frequent sinus infections. I've since learned that I have sarc in my sinus. Fortunately, for me, the lupus pernio only gets bad once or twice a year. Hope the info helps. Peace, Tony > > Hey, does anyone have sarcoid in their nose?
