Guest guest
, In case you need to go to battle with Aetna....there is a website out there with a copy of the letter from Aetna, approving her DS surgery. If they apporove it for one, they should approve it for another. Best wishes! Let me know if you need the site....K.C. Aetna Draft Letter #2 Outstanding Chris! Now, when and how do you expect to submit this? I hope that you will demand a direct response to your specifics.... I, for one, am eagerly awaiting Aetna's response. How can they possibly refute this? More power to you - and good luck! from NE Philly, age 39Open DS w/ Dr. Pomp, 6/27/01: BMI 63----------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest guest
Kim, Actually this letter was more of a pre-emptive strike. The Dr. is sending in my paperwork this week, but I want to be prepared. Since my plan is " self insured " by my employer there is a chance I will get approved. Still, I was so outraged at the policy that even if I am approved I want to see the whole policy turned over. If you wan't to use the letter for your appeal you may, but please the small amount of personal information. Guest guest
, My Dr. should be submitting their request for my surgery this week. I think of this paper as a bit of a loaded cannon aimed squarely at Aetna. I am sort of saying: " Go ahead make my day " . Of course if I am approved than I will be happy to aviod the excess delay but if they dare deny me, the better be ready! If I am approved than I somebody else who is denied can use it to their benifit. Dr. K is going to use parts of my letter to try to get some of his dozen or so patients approved through BC/BS. Since their claim is also based on the DS being investigational, I think that it will be helpful for them as well. With luck we will just blow a whole through this innane policy that is so large that they give up trying to deny this surgery.
