Ha! ... Fule? Wow! Guess I won't get any jobs as a secretary... I mean fuel.:)

Dr. sy is the one I mentioned yesterday, only he gave me no warm

fuzzies. I may have just seen him on bad days? He is the best in that group

though. People come from around the world to see him. Maybe he just didn't like

me.

hltrachta wrote:Hi there,

I would like to add that Dr. sy treated my daughter,

and she is doing wonderfully. He is a Ponseti-qualified

orthopedist, and he was so great with Addison. I would highly

recommend him if you did decide to go to Atlanta.

really quick... is Baltimore considered Tricare South? If not, in Prime, they

won't approve it. Lastly, I'm not trying to be pushy, but what makes you nervous

about Tricare Standard?

I know everyone has their own Tricare horror story but so far we've

had pretty decent luck with them. However, Ive seen enough

incompetence elsewhere in the military hospitals and am aware that

its only a matter of time before Tricare messes something up.

I just dont get a really good vibe about taking Elijah off and

everyone else staying on it. I prefer military care over civilian

care for the most part. Elijah's foot is the only thing that we've

ever considered seeing a civilian about and thats only b/c our AF Dr

retired.

Lori, MD is considered Tricare North. This is a quote from teh handbook:

TRICARE Prime is easy to use. You’ll have a PCM at your Military Treatment

Facility (MTF) or in the TRICARE Prime provider network, from whom you’ll get

most of your care, and who will refer you to specialists within the network when

necessary. Your local HCF at the TRICARE Service Center (TSC) will make the

arrangements for you to get the specialized

care after you receive a referral from your PCM.

A recent change in Federal law allows you to be reimbursed for reasonable travel

expenses when your HCF authorizes your referral to a specialist who’s more than

100 miles away from your PCM’s office. Check with your PCM, or Beneficiary

Counseling and Assistance Coordinator (BCAC)/Health Benefits Adviser (HBA) for

details

With this in mind, it seems your best option would be to go to Atlanta. They

are network providers and your travel expences would be covered.

Thank you Faith. I emailed Dr. Poseti the pictures and movie I

took. I also posted them on the CF Pics site for those interested.

Sure thing! Lori, his foot, from my layman's point of view looks WONDERFUL with

the exception of his dorsiflexion (which doesn't look TOO bad at all), but maybe

that could be some corrected with proper casting. I don't see any reason other

than him not being able to achieve the proper dorsiflexion that would explain

the foot coming out of the shoe. But, Gabe never wore Markell's. Kori is the

resident expert on those. I saw someone else mention that they too had trouble

when the shoes they bought were too big. It really sounds to me like that's your

problem.

I think so too!! I had one of those DUH moments when I took the

picture and realized that theres no way he could physically keep his

foot down with the bar bent like it is.

O well, never hurts to have that opinion from Dr Ponseti to take with

me to Hawaii. I think the dorsiflexion issue might be able to wait

until we make the move instead of putting him thru another tenotomy by

an unskilled Dr before we go.

Thanks again for everyones opinion and help!!

I think you're right. However, you should definitely keep the shoes and bar on.

If you don't he stands a high chance still of relapsing. Just make sure you

watch out for blisters, which is the main problem when you can't keep that heel

down.
