Guest guest
Ah, yes, steatorrhea from Xenical. I was put on Xenical the minute it became available in the US. My PCP explained all of the side effects, including the oily discharge. Did I believe him? NNNNNOOOOO!!! Fortunately, I decided to give it the " acid test " at home. I ate Peking Duck and Haagen Dazs for dinner, then sat back to await the results. Let me tell you I had " results " most of the night!! It took at least 6 months for my body to adjust to the extra fat being excreted rectally instead of being absorbed through the intestine. I, too, used maxipads to avoid leaking in public. That is no longer necessary now, but I'm also much more careful of what I eat. I have found that Xencial and its cousin, Precose, have slowed down my WT gain, but not stopped it. So, on to the DS on Sept. 5, pending insurance approval. I'll be happy to post a comparison of Xenical induced steatorrhea v. DS induced steatorrhea if anyone is interested. Awaiting Sept. 5 in NYC, pending ins. approval. Packing for the hospital anyway. PHS/HealthNet doesn't rule my life!
