Anyway, some years ago I was reading an article about the tobacco industry. Supporters were saying how many people depended on tobacco, from the growers & workers, to all the support industries. Another person was quoted as saying something like this, "If Washington Carver could find 300 uses for peanuts, surely someone can find another use for the tobacco plant!" That makes a lot of sense to me, and yet, years later, as far as I know, tobacco has just one purpose. (well, besides making tobacco company executives rich, that is.)
