Again, sorry to be so graphic. >> OK, use the medical term then: steatorrhea--sounds so official, huh? I am three months out, and I have had it all along, at least since week two or three. I deal with it mainly by wearing maxipads in my undies. (Look for me on " Always " commercials on a TV near you!) It is worse some days than others, mainly when I overload on fats. But, I've given up trying to control it, and I am just attempting to keep it from dictating how I will live--thus the maxipads. I just had my 3-month bloodwork, and was astounded by the results: Total Cholesterol = 114 HDL = 30 (low) LDL = 58 Triglycerides = 128 I have been on 20 mg of Lipitor daily. That is a " statin " that interferes with cholestrol production in the liver. I was on it pre-op for over a year, and it had brought my total cholesterol down from about 289 to 180 or so. But, now, Lipitor + DS brought it down to 114! So, my PCP agrees that I can follow my surgeon's advice and cut out the Lipitor for three months at least, until we do blood work once again and see what the results are. I have a snealing suspicion that the Lipitor somehow increases the tendency toward oily discharges (steatorrhea). Today was my first day off Lipitor, so it may take several days before its effects are out of my system. Stay tuned. --Steve -- Steve Goldstein, age 61 Lap BPD/DS on May 2, 2001 Dr. Elariny, INOVA Fairfax Hospital, Virginia Starting (05/02/01) BMI = 51 BMI on 07/26 =
