Guest guest
Hi , What a wonderful idea! Only thought I had once I checked out the site is what wish should we ask to be granted for Dr Ponseti? If we can come up with an idea we all agree on, then we can each go nominate him with a blurb in the comments section that we are part of this yahoo group and how he has affected our child(rens) lives! Marilouise 9/9/03, LCF, DBB 12/7 Owen and 3/20/99 > Hello everyone > I was just browsing the three main tv stations for new shows looking for real people... I can across NBC's new show called Three Wishes. Running through my mind what one of my biggest wishes was I began to think about Dr. P and how selflessly he came out of retirement to help our children. Unfortunately he was not my daughters doctor ( we have Dr. Dobbs). I thought as a group we could nominate Dr. Ponseti for a wish come true....go to > http://www.nbc.com/nbc/footer/Three_Wishes.shtml to apply. > Mersereau and Shalom > > > __________________________________________________ >

Guest guest
Well, there in lies part of my problem. I don't know him as he was not our doctor. This is how my thought pattern went when I found the show.... .....wish I could donate $10 000 to Shriner's as they have been big part of our lives for 10 years now (C.F and Brittle Bone Disorder). .....really wish I could help kids in under privileged countries have same care for club feet we have here through Dr. Ponseti. (then read on site it had to happen in the States) .....wish I could some how express our gratitude to Dr. Ponseti and help him in his desire to educate more Dr.s of the " better " way to treat C.F. So, my next thought now is donate money to bring doctors from other countries to learn from Dr. P.... Why else would he leave retirement and continue to work into his 80's? He wants to pass this knowledge on to others and not die out with him. Well, now share your thoughts.... bearalways03 wrote: How did you fill it out? itasks you what the wish should be?I want to nominate him but I'm not sure what his wish would be. > Hello everyone > I was just browsing the three main tv stations for new shows looking for real people... Guest guest
That would be a good wish - to train more foreign doctors. The organisation I started called Steps Charity is raising funds in South Africa to send more of our doctors to Dr Ponseti (and other training workshops by Ponseti-trained doctors). It's our first priority to get doctors trained, without that we cannot expect the Ponseti method to become standard here. I'm excited now as our fundraising number has finally come through and we are taking part in our first small charity event this Sunday, followed by our first big one in November (a charity golf day) - both in Johannesburg. Soon the site will be set up for donations, etc. I will let you all know when that happens. Thanks for getting this going , Take care, Moss STEPS CHARITY www.steps.org.za Re: Re: New show @NBC Well, there in lies part of my problem. I don't know him as he was not our doctor. Guest guest
Teleconfrence sounds like a wonderful idea. s. Re: New show @NBC I just checked out the NBC website with the show information. It would be great if we could nominate Dr P for this. We just need to know what he needs-does his clinic need a remodel? ie updated colors/decorations/pictures/equipment? Could the cast room use a remodel-the reason I mention this is that one of the cast members is Oosterhouse(so cute) from TLC Trading spaces-he's the carpenter. Would a good wish be to have the cast/orth clinic named after him(don't know if this is already done but I know university's love to name things-preferably after a large monetary donation). Or would he like to have teleconference equipment where he could be able to talk/see other Ponsetti trained docs and their clinics to make sure his work is carrying on?!? These are just some ideas. I would love to help write the proposal/wish-and then we can all copy/send it in. Even though we have never met the man, our family owes so much to him. Let's get some ideas-maybe start a poll! Guest guest
Naming a clinic wing after him is honorable, but not really all that useful in my opinion....kwim? Face it, the man is pushing 100 years old, what ever we're able to do it needs to be aimed at GETTING THE WORD OUT nation wide by a credible source, aimed at both the medical community and the parents of babies cuz in the end I believe it will be parents who demand the change thus forcing doctors to change. s. Guest guest
I think this would be a wonderful idea. Would somebody who has worked directly with Dr. Ponseti be willing to contact him (or Joyce) to see what his " wish " would be? I would be happy to write a letter of support in favor of whatever it is that's decided upon. Guest guest
, I think perhaps I might not be the only one here who did go look at the site but stopped because it wanted to know what the 3 wishes would be. And since we don't know that yet, I couldn't continue. I should have posted support for it but I didn't take the time. I do however think it's a grand idea and would absolutely take part if we had more information. Personally, I don't know Dr. Ponseti (but wish I did) so I can't really come up with any ideas for what he would like. I'm sorry! I have to leave here in a few minutes (shouldn't be online even) but maybe we should open up a new thread asking people to make suggestions for this in particular. Since this thread doesn't actually have the subject of this maybe some people aren't reading it? Whatever the case, I can't imagine this particular group of wonderful people wouldn't want to jump on this. I think we need a leader for it though. I do not know enough about the show to do it but maybe someone else does and is willing to take this on? I will check back later and if no one has started a thread with exactly what we need to do I will research it and get on it. Thanks so much for saying this, because you're right... it did kind of die a little bit and needs to be picked up. Kori At 12:14 PM 8/19/2005, you wrote: >am I too late to say yes, ask him? Guest guest
Now these are some excellent ideas! I still haven't seen anyone volunteer to actually talk to Joyce about it, I would do it but I haven't actually met her or him. I was thinking about talking to Dr. Dobbs about it. I think I will do it, he is in contact w/ him regularly -- I bet he would have an idea or two, or be able to tell us if any of Kathleen's ideas are viable. > > > > Hello everyone > > > > I was just browsing the three main tv stations for new shows > > > looking for real people...
