Guest guest
Now these are some excellent ideas! I still haven't seen anyone volunteer to actually talk to Joyce about it, I would do it but I haven't actually met her or him. I was thinking about talking to Dr. Dobbs about it. I think I will do it, he is in contact w/ him regularly -- I bet he would have an idea or two, or be able to tell us if any of Kathleen's ideas are viable. > > > > Hello everyone > > > > I was just browsing the three main tv stations for new shows > > > looking for real people... Guest guest
I think most of the idea's I heard are great so far!! I really like: ....flying in a bunch of doctors from all over the world to have them trained in the method. .....maybe a huge party in his honor showing him all of the people like us that just love him even though some of us don't know him. It would be nice if they picked up the airfare for us all to come in he he he LOL!..don't think they would pay that much though, which makes me wonder is there a $$$ limit on the wishes??? Wouldn't it be great to his face though, if he walked into a room and saw like a 1000 of us grateful people who worship the ground he walks on. .....A dream Vacation! The man works so so so hard and have came out of retirement for our babies, he deserves a dream come true, something really special. I really wish we could have them donate tons of money to other countries, etc, but I read someone mentioned that the 3 wishes have to be in the US Michele Collin's story at http://www.geocities.com/chele323232

Guest guest
I'll talk to Joyce on Monday, think that's soon enough? I have to talk to them anyway to find out if they got the video I sent of Gabe's walking. wrote:Now these are some excellent ideas! Guest guest
another wish .. could be a news story on a major NBC show about Dr. Ponseti and the method.. that has been so hard to make happen.. we all have tried and tried and tried in vain.. even though it's such a remarkable story. and I know that Dr. P has been disappointed when stories by the NY Times or other major news organizations haven't materialized... because that's his wish, to spread the word.. > I think most of the idea's I heard are great so far!! > > I really like: > > ...flying in a bunch of doctors from all over the world to have them > trained in the method. > ....maybe a huge party in his honor showing him all of the people > like us that just love him even though some of us don't know him. > It would be nice if they picked up the airfare for us all to come in > he he he LOL!..don't think they would pay that much though, which > makes me wonder is there a $$$ limit on the wishes??? Guest guest
Drs from all over the world would be great, but we still need several more right here in the US... It seems foreign docs are more apt to train with Ponseti. The few times I've been to Iowa ALL of them have been foreign. Oh, and just a suggestion, if you send Ponseti your old/outgrown shoes and bars, he sends them to cf projects around the world. We've sent him two pair of shoes and a bar... He was very glad to get them. michele_and_collin wrote:I think most of the idea's I heard are great so far!! Guest guest
You're right... I'll ask Joyce what she thinks, but I think this is the best idea so far. Did you know that rescently he tried to publish an article in a medical journal about treatment of atypical clubfeet and they rejected it!!! Most doctors are still under the impression that the 5% atypical clubfeet are stil in need of MAJOR surgery, but Ponseti told me that he has treated over 80 cases(this was back in OCT 04) of atypical clubfeet over the past 5 years and not a single one has needed more than an ATT... and to him, that's extreme! and Claire wrote:another wish .. could be a news story on a major NBC show about Dr. Guest guest
I wish we could get doctors from NJ & PA too (not just the world) I still can't believe either state has anyone qualified. We could make up a list of the missing states for qualified doctors, and invite all of them! Guest guest
I wrote that too fast. Sounds strange, now that I think about it, to ask a show about him to grant a wish for a show about him.. but I was thinking something like a serious newspaper or magazine article or high profile newsmagazine show (would that be Dateline for NBC?) that gets into the nitty gritty and is persuasive about the method itself.. something that would get doctors' attention, as well as parents. But it doesn't make much sense does it.. Maybe I need some coffee.. I have always wished, and never understood, why shows such as Oprah, etc. don't see the interest and want to pick up this story.. It's so compelling.. a doctor in his 90s, under such demand, treating babies from all over the country, all over the world.. fixing their tiny feet with his aged hands.. the oldest of doctors, the youngest of patients.. it's such a great story, with visuals to spare.. and much better than much of the garbage you see on those shows that passes for infotainment.. boy, I do need some coffee! better stop typing while I'm ahead.. > another wish .. could be a news story on a major NBC show about Dr. > Ponseti and the method.. that has been so hard to make happen.. we > all have tried and tried and tried in vain.. even though it's such a > remarkable story. > and I know that Dr. P has been disappointed when stories by the NY > Times or other major news organizations haven't materialized... > because that's his wish, to spread the word.. >

Guest guest
Ah, finally some good discussion! The telecommunication thing sounds great, anything I think to continue the training. Videos on How-To ? Dr. P sounds liek a preety humble man, just wanting to help our children the best way he can, so the naming part of the hospital after him is cool but will he like it? And I think if we get this actually going the show itself will generate its own publicity for Dr. Ponseti. number23 wrote: Ah! Now THAT is also a wonderful wonderful idea! Spread the word! s. Guest guest
someone might have already said, but he already has his wing of the hospital naqmed after him:) Mersereau wrote:Ah, finally some good discussion! Spread the word! s. Guest guest
What about a brochure or pamphlet mailed to orthopedic doctors at major hospitals that are " practicing " the Ponseti method or may not be? This could give them info. on clubfeet, the method, training and certification, which would get their name on a website that could increase business. I was trying to think of a way to get the word out to more doctors in the US, not just in other parts of the world. Guest guest
Thanks for the message about the used equipment. I am keeping his first pair of shoes, but will probably have another pair at the end of the year as well as a bar. I will definitely send them to him. Re: Re: New show @NBC Drs from all over the world would be great, but we still need several more right here in the US...
