My common channel is 50 cm. My stomach at the time of surgery was 100cc. My

alimentary limb is 250cm. When Dr. Hess measured my instestine it was

unusually short and there for gave me the measurements listed above.

KC,

Good question.....I'm 7 1/2 months post op. I've lost 83 lbs. My

common channel is 100 cm. I am 5'5 " , beginning weight was 274. I'm

happy with the length. My weight has steadily come off. I have

experienced some plateauing. I think alot of it is just my body

slowing down to readjust. I have never had any problems with my blood

work. So, I seem to absorb plenty of protein, calcium and iron and the

rest of whatever we have a tendency to lack. Maybe ADEK or something.

I do notice that people with shorter common channels seem to lose

faster initially. I don't know about the long term. Hope this helps.

Cindy,

Thanks for your response. Do you mind sharing your goal weight? I'm

wondering if patients with a longer common channel experience fewer problems

with their blood work? Where are you from and who was your doc?

Congratulations on 83 lbs. Are you exercising?
