Guest guest
Does anybody know what's going on at Mt. Sinai? I got a call from them Wed AM 8/1 postponing my surgery for a month despite the fact that I scheduled it for 9/5 in Feb and the fact that this causes a major problem with my vacation time from work. The people I spoke with were unconcerned, unapologetic, unhelpful and uncaring except for the standard flat affect platitudes. When asked for specific reasons for the change, I was told " It's nothing to do with your paperwork or insurance. Things happen. We must be flexible. " Was 9/5, now 10/3 and VERY UNHAPPY and ANNOYED

Guest guest
This does happen. The Drs, especially, Dr gagner are out of town alot and the other Drs. pick up some of the slack and things have to be changed around. I agree that the staff could be more compassionate and you should let the Dr. know if they weren't. I'm sorry you have to go thru this but it will be a distant memory when you are on the other side. Good luck. Elle(Pam

Guest guest
, I know that there is a new office manager working there who is trying to straighten things out and organize everyone. I think that may be part of the problem. I also know that Yvette Santiago is no longer working there. They have also re-organized the office set-up a bit. And the nutritionist has this psycho assistant who has restored my high opinion of nutritionists i.e. a person who is so miserable from not eating anything good that they get their kicks from torturing those of us who dare to eat things that we enjoy. You can get used to the rude treatment though becuase it will happen regularly. I have been there several times and I have noticed that the phones ring off the hook. These poor girls have to answer a ton of calls and try to do their normal jobs. They are really overworked to say the least. After seeing what they have to go I don't think of it as rude treatment, I think of it as being short due to the stress of the constant ringing phones. I know that they are getting ready to add another member to the team so things should get better soon. > Does anybody know what's going on at Mt. Sinai? Guest guest
It probably depends on your surgeon. Maybe your surgeon has something else he is doing. Not that I agree with them doing that. Once someone is scheduled they should be prepared to stay with it. I am having Dr. Inabnet do mine either Thursday or Friday (I am scheduled for Fri, but they want me to come Thurs instead). This was moved up from the 24th. I have dealt with 3 different assistants ( Gee, Irene and Robin, and they have all been really great. Maggie > Does anybody know what's going on at Mt. Sinai? " : I have no idea what's going on... but if you have Dr. Gagner, there are many, many weird changes going on. First, he drops all insurance and I was never notified of this fact. I heard from it on these boards and it took forever to try to contact someone in his office to advise me about it. And, Dr. Gagner is taking a lot of 'vacations'. I think the man definately deserves them, but I had my August 8th six month appointment (made months in advance) cancelled last week because DR. GAgner was 'going on vacation' at that time. The office staff who called informed me that she herself was just told. This kind of stuff seems to be happening quite a bit these days... all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 six months post-op and still feelin' fabu! pre-op: 307 lbs/bmi 45 now: 228 lbs
