Guest guest
Judie, yes as " maintenance " I am to take 1/day the rest of my life in order to keep the gasmonster away. I only paid the copay at the pharmacy ($10). I will get Dr to call me in a 90-day prescription when I finish this prescrip, as I can get 90 days by mailorder through my insurance for only one copay. I would gladly pay the full price for what this medicine has done for me this week, though, it has been such a relief - no gas AT ALL! Also, no diahrea/cramping! B., SC > , do you take them for the rest of your life or what? you said at the > end....once a day from then on.....for how long? > And how much did the pharmacy charge you? > Judie
Guest guest
The druggiest told me it was an antibacterial drug, not an antibiotic. I was not told to use yogart but I did buy some Acidiphilis which I will start soon. Regarding your " does it kill smell " question, if there is no gas there is no smell, lol!! It has completely stopped the gas! B., SC > , > the reason i asked was becuz its an antibiotic and I didnt think you could > be on that for life without adverse problems. Guest guest
> The druggiest told me it was an antibacterial drug <snip> Hmmn.. I always considered it to be an antibiotic.. but sure enough, the drug guide states that it is an " anti-infective (miscellaneous) " Therapeutic action of Flagyl: Disrupts DNA and protein synthesis in susceptible organisms. Bacteriocidal, trichomonacidal, or amebicidal action. Most noted for activity against anaerobic bacteria, including bacteroides & clostridium. Also active against trichomonas vaginalis, entameba histolytica, giardia lamblia, helicobacter pylori, and clostridium difficile. Give with food or milk to help prevent nausea. Hmmn.. good stuff, this. Hope it helps! Hugs, Liane

Guest guest
I buy Pro Biotic acidolphilus from GNC. It works for me and you don't have to refrigerate it. Guest guest
Judie, I also dont seem to produce the horrible smell. I did have a bad bout after some chicken wings, but that was all. It did make me worry about gasing out my family, so here's what I do: I put about a teaspoon of deodorizing household cleaner in the toilet water after every flush. Also, ask him to flush often when he's going, and light a candle. Hope it helps.. Guest guest
Im a little miffed right now! Called our pcp asking for prescription for Flagyl and he flatly turned us down! (didnt say why) So now I gotta contact Dr Welker and see if he supports this regime and if so, have him go over my pcp's head and call in a prescription for DH!! (Welker trained him yrs ago in medical school and I dont think he likes the fact that we know a bit much more about these things than he does!)
