Hi Stacie,

I believe that your chances of having subsequent children with clubfoot go

up 4-5% (someone else will confirm that number) and yes clubfoot can be

detected during an ultrasound. It can be seen as early as 16 weeks

sometimes earlier.

anyone know the likelyhood of second child w/

CF

Does anyone know the statistics of the second child having clufoot?

Can it be detected in a ultrasound?

We don't know if our son's CF was a result of genetics or position.

We are concened about the likelyhood of or next child's chances.

Thanks, Stacie

I think it's a 3% chance of having a subsequent child with clubfoot if

there is no other family history, or roughly 1 in 30. I think if one

parent has clubfoot, there is a 25% chance for each pregnancy.

I don't know the statistics if there is a family history in the

extended family (i.e. grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins etc.)

We have no family history, one child with clubfoot (our firstborn) and

two without.

I think there are some statistics quoted in Dr. Ponseti's book intro,

which can be found in the files section of this group's website- but

it doesn't have all the relevant statistics from what I recall.

and do pick it up by ultrasound.
