> Stamford, CT Dr. Herron is extremely knowledgeable and

professional. I couldn't believe all the time he took with me (well

over 2 hours!). He addressed a total of 34 written questions I posed,

as well as rendering his own input regarding risk, immediate & long

term post op, aftercare structure. He is much more caring & thorough

than I ever imagined! His staff, Yvette and Gee, and Daryl (the

Mt. Sinai insurance guru) were particularly sharp and professional.

All flowed extemely well; however, thanx to the WLS suggestions, I

made many proactive phone calls and follow-ups which paid off BIG TIME

(THANX TO ALL!) I RATE DR. DANIEL HERRON AT MOUNT SINAI A 10+ - I AM

SO FORTUNATE I DIDN'T HAVE TO COMPROMISE - I'M GETTING TOP SURGICAL

COMPETENCE ACCOMPANIED BY THE FINEST BEDSIDE MANNER & UNDERSTANDING

ONE COULD HOPE FOR (PRIASE BE!).

> Staten Island, NY 6/1/01 After a 3/01 cancelation I am

finally on the road to surgery. Two+ weeks and counting. I am

starting to get a little nervous and recalling last minute questions.

Since I have had almost 8 months pre-op since my first consult, I

think I am pretty prepared. I just want it to be done!! Looking

forward to a new beginning!! Dr. Herron will be performing my

surgery " open " instead of lap because he is concerned about the

additional length of time on the table for lap, my previous lung

issues, high bmi, enlarged liver (common in MO) etc. I was hoping to

go lap, but understand and appreciate his reservation. I too was

worried about the time on the table afraid my body won't cooperate. I

am almost there!! Yippee! 3/01 Update: My BPD/DS surgery was

scheduled for 3/13/01 but after reviewing my lung function tests, Dr.

Herron canceled it for more asthma treatment. While I was extremely

dissappointed by these events, I know Dr. H. only has my health and

best interests in mind. I also ran into the doctor at a suuport group

meeting and again he was very receptive to me by taking a few minutes

out for discussion. I am reinforcing my support for Dr. H. and will

hopefully be able to update you on an uneventful surgery with him :)

I met Dr. Herron for the first time 11/16 and although I was

frustrated because of the waiting time, he was very professional,

friendly and informative. I got bumped by two other patients (the

administrative staff did not transfer my file from an associate as I

had requested twice previously). The wait was 3 hours and I was

seething by the time I saw Dr. Herron. His nurse was extremely

supportive during my period of " distress " when she could have been

dismissive. Dr. Herron listened as I vented and then we proceeded

onto the consultation. Dr. Herron took considerable time with me

answering questions and discussing precautions, risks, aftercare,

nutrition, etc. His bedside manner was excellent (especially since I

was in the crisis mode personally). Due to the long delays I had to

leave abruptly. Dr. Herron later apologized for the long wait in an

email. To date, I am pleased with my choice even though I have had

poor experiences with his admin staff. Since the admin staff will not

be performing in the operating room and I will be proactive and

diligent, ensuring all the documentation required is maintained in my

file, I feel very comfortable with the doctor and his nursing staff.

These of course are my personal experiences and can not account for

any other experiences except my own.

> Plymouth Meeting, PA Dr. Herron Mt. Sinai Medical

Center in NY Dr. Herron is my HERO! He performed my Lap BPD/DS on

10/6/00 and everythng has been great. The 5 days in the hospital were

not so great due to the lack of interest in the nursing staff. Except

for Joe , the most incredible Nurse's Aide and a couple of

third year students who were kinder than kind. As far as Dr. Herron's

care goes I think he was SUPER! My operation was 6 hours long and he

hung in there because he knew how badly I wanted it to be Lap. He

didn't rush me which would have been easier for him and his busy

schedule. Furthermore, he has repsonded quickly to every need I have

had since surgery and really cares about his patients. Sometimes he

is overwhelmed with work and he is a bit more rushed, but aren't we

all overwhelmed sometimes? All I know is I have lost 100 lbs. so far,

that is 100 lbs. more than I ever could have lost on my own. I thank

him every single day for choosing this profession and taking such

excellent care of me. My husband, my dad and Dr. Herron...my 3

favorite men! Boy, do I feel lucky! This operation was truly a

miracle! THANK YOU DR. HERRON!!!!

> New York, NY Made and appointment in February for 4/26. Such

a long time to wait. From reading this board seems like it won't be

until end of summer that I will be having surgery. Would really like

to have it before my birthday in July. 5/27 - Saw Dr. Herron on

Thursday. The consultation was brief as like many obesityhelp members

have done plenty of research. His brother is in my same industry

which was nice as I didn't have to explain what I did for a living.

His own staff is pleasant enough it is the women at the front desk

and billing (who work for all the doctors on the floor) who are

basically lazy pains in the ass. My consultation and exam were simple

and to the point. And I won't be seeing Dr. Herron again until I am

on a surgery table.

> Hawthorne, NJ Dr. Herron is personable, friendly,

knowledgeable and compassionate. The office staff is friendly and

competent. It is difficult to get throught to people on the phone

though and this is very frustrating. Every time I have called I have

been immediately placed on hold before being helped. Dr.Herron

stressed the need for regular followup post op and the importance of

compliance with diet and nutritional supplements. He addressed the

risks of surgery in a no-nonsense manner. I had done a great deal of

research prior to my consultation, so really, it was more a matter of

clarifying what I didn't understand and confirming what I did know. I

rate Dr. Herron very high...on a scale of 1-10, a 10. If there is

anything negative to say at this stage, it is that I had to wait a

great deal past my appointment time to see him.

> New Rochelle, ny I havent met Dr. Herron yet, but hear he is

wonderful from many of his patients. I have spoken to and she

was wonderful and helpful. She told me every test I needed upfront so

when I walk into my consult...I will be ready to go. So far, everyone

that I have spoken to in the office has been friendly and helpful.

April 26, I had my consult today and it was alot less stressful than

I expected. I was lucky to have the first appt of the day, and they

took me almost immediately when I walked in. Diane is wonderful, and

did all of the paperwork up front. I met with Dr. Herron who

explained everything in detail, even drawing pictures for me. He

cleared up a few questions I had and I am comfortable that I have

chosen one of the most skillful and caring surgeons around. I then

met with Yvette, who went SO FAR out of her way to help finalize my

plans and get me ready for my insurance approval. I really appreciate

how cooperative the entire staff was, including .

> Lk. Hopatcong, NJ What a difference with Dr. Herron than my

1st surgeon. Sat down, took the time to explain at great length what

he does and why. Tried for early March but wants a full day as I'll

be his only surgery on April 11th. Surgery should take about 6 hrs.

as I actually have 3 procedures that day. Since I was the first appt.

and done early they even called and scheduled my psych. and nutritist

meeting. Luckily it could be done today and I didn't have to go back.

The entire team works so well together and was great!!! I didn't

experience any craziness with the paperwork or anything. I feel so

comfortable with this decision and it feels wonderful. All my risks

were explained in full. 3/14/01 I feel so blessed that Dr. Herron is

my surgeon. He called tonight to discuss changing from RNY to BPD and

why. Explained that I have greater risks for leaking/bleeding(which I

knew)by undoing the surgery from Aug. He feels that if we do the BPD

than I have less risks/complications. I will still lose weight and

all. He answered my questions and referred me to lots of sites(not

only theirs)to make an informed decision. Call in a few days to let

him know so he can submit to insurance. Well, I read everything and I

know tonight that this is okay. How can I argue with a Dr. who's

trying to prevent less complications in the long run? So, I love the

fact that HE called me personally and no pressure to decide. Gosh, I

just can't believe how lucky I am to be with a program like this!

4/2/01 Dr. Herron is incredible!! He stayed in touch via e-mail(not

always same day but it wasn't urgent)and kept reassuring me all was

going to be alright. When my denial came he was " don't panic " and

lets hold on. Daryl's working things out. He personally spoke with

the Dr. at Aetna to fully explain why I can't have the RNY which is

what they want to pay for. He explained fully my need for BPD/DS. I

can't believe he got the approval. I am in awe to the extent of his

involvment for me to have this surgery! I truly am at a quality

program. When you have someone like this going to bat for you before

surgery it makes you very comfortable during the procedure. I

personally feel he runs a quality program. Daryl has been great. The

day ins. requested a pre-determination Daryl got them one that day!

He reassured me, called when necessary and kept me up to date during

these last few crazy days! He even called with the good news. Daryl

arranged for the Dr. at Aetna's schedule to work with Dr. Herrons so

they could speak about what needed to be done. He did everything in

his power for me to be approved. There were a few days when he didn't

return the calls but he didn't know anything at that time. 4/19/01

There aren't enough words to describe my utmost confidence in Dr.

Herron as my surgeon!!While outside of OR waiting he came and advised

me of everything that would be happening and why. He felt we needed

to change to an " open " BPD/Ds but that it would be only a small

incision and the healing time very similar to LAP. Not a problem.

Even before surgery we were laughing and all. He was right there when

I woke up in recovery and I even cracked a joke. He reminded me about

the next day and I said I remembered. His bedside manner is great.

Made sure I knew who was covering for him for the weekend, what to

expect and all. I would rate him on a scale of 1-10/well above a 10.

He has been that great. He went to bat for me to have this surgery

and he did great. He has a structured aftercare and I see him again

on 5/3. I expect all will be fine. It almost seems to hard to be true

to find a Dr. that is quality from my experiences from

consult,surgery,follow-up but I have truly found one. I have nothing

negative at this time. Not even the slightest complaint~

waited 10 minutes for my first consultation and was still seen before

my appointment time. Everyone else I have talked to claims it is

normally a 2 hour wait. I found the office staff pleasant. My

impression was that Dr. Herron is used to giving the WLS run down, so

I am not sure I felt that is was personalized to me per se. I was

also surprised that he didn't ask ME more questions and had me

schedule surgery immediately following my appointment. Perhaps it was

due to my " knowing I wanted to do this " . I didn't feel any warm

fuzzies but I left feeling Dr. Herron was more than competant.

his PA and Yvette, the MA were both extremely nice and pleasant. I

was impressed with Dr. Herron's credential and reputation and am

> Staten Island, NY I met with Dr Herron on 2/8/01. He was

very nice and friendly. He took time to explain both procedures and

helped me narrow it down to Lap RNY. We decided on a surgery date of

4/9/01. and Evette were great. What a staff!! So far I feel

that I made the right choice and can't wait to have the surgery. Dr

Herron also assured me that the insurance should not be a problem. He

said that as long as my BMI was over 40 they will approve it. I hope

and pray he is right. He seemed so confident. UPDATE: I have changed

my mind and am now seeking the Lap BPD/DS instead of the Lap RNY Many

nights of research has brought me to this decision. Dr Herron

actually called me on 3/12/01 & 3/14/01 to discuss both surgies in

full again. He is WONDERFUL!! We spoke for about 25 minutes and he

did not rush me or try to get rid of me. He agrees with me about the

BPD/DS and on 4/9/01 he will " switch " me!!! 4-4-01 UPDATE: Last week

Gee from Dr Herron's office called me and asked me if I would

like to move my date up to 4*6*01 and of course I said, " YES " !! So I

am 48 hours away from being switched and I am so excited If it wasn't

for Gee and my own leg work I would not be having the BPD/DS

because Daryl in the ins dept DID NOT submit the correct code and it

was almost too late. I found out YESTERDAY that I was approved for

the BPD/DS when I should have known at least 2 weeks ago. It was

sheer torment waiting to see which surgery you are having and not

knowing until the very last minute!! I really appreciate Gee

and I am very disappointed at the treatment that I rec'd from Daryl.

Take matters into your own hands like I did and get the surgery you

truly want!!!!!! GOD BLESS!!!!! UPDATE: DR HERRON IS THE BEST SKILLED

SURGEON IN THE WORLD!!! I AM HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL ONE DAY AND I

FEEL GREAT. HE PERFORMED THE LAP BPD/DS WITH SUCH PRECISION THAT I AM

EATING AND DRINKING AND TAKING MY PILLS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. HE IS

> Westchester, NY When I first met Dr. Herron, I was surprised

at how young he is. He was very nice, and took the time to explain

the various procedures. The only staff member I dealt with was his

PA, who was very nice. The rest of the staff seemed okay. Dr.

Herron answered my questions, and addressed my concerns, however, I

got the distinct impression that he was in a hurry to wrap up. (To be

fair, he could have been having a bad day.) All in all, I liked him.

I asked him straight out " Why do you perform surgeries like this,

instead of heart, or brain? " Although he was taken aback, he gave a

sincere and straightforward answer which convinced me that I want him

as my surgeon. UPDATE: I have decided to switch doctors because I am

greatly disappointed in the treatment I received from Dr. Herron. He

takes his time in returning telephone messages and emails. In one

instance I was very ill and tried to contact him, and he didn't

respond until a week later. On the day of my surgery, I didn't see

Dr. Herron at all, not even when I went into surgery. Every other

member of the op staff came to say hello and offer their reassurance.

I had surgery on Friday and didn't see Dr. Herron until Monday, the

day I went home, and for only 5 minutes. To make matters worse, he

was in a rush to leave. I have spoken with some of his patients and

most are very pleased with him, and remember, this is just MY

experience. But based on this, I will NOT and have not recommended

Dr. Herron to anyone.

which he replied the next day! While office staff didn't originally

return my call, once I got to speak with Yvette, she was terrific and

helped with scheduling and understanding pre-op tests/consultations.

3/22 - Surgery date was changed to one day sooner - great! Met Dr.

Herron and I liked him very much, along with PA . I had so many

questions written, but I asked only the ones I could think of

quickly. The rest I sent to him via email and, I love this part - he

responded to every one 24 hrs later! For an I.T. person, this is just

wonderful. 4/4 - The surgery went well and Dr. Herron was able to do

lap RNY even tho I was almost at the top limit of his being able to.

He visited each day in the hosptial, and always with a smile for me.

Both surgical competence and bedside manner are wonderful. I am so

far very pleased with this choice. My only criticism would be in the

delay in getting letter written and sent with other tests/letters to

the insurance company. But I do realize that the timeline was very

tight and consider myself fortunate to have had everything fall into

place. I took it as a sign that this was meant to be.

came to surgery and I'm sure I hounded his office staff to death with

questions! They were more than helpful and never once did I feel that

they were annoyed with me for bothering them. P.A. G called me

back at home when she was off for a few days to answer question which

was an added plus in my book! I highly recommend him. My surgery

actually took longer than expected since we ran into a slight

problem. Afterwards he met with my family members and explained the

entire procedure. My family found him to be honest, direct and

friendly and my mom thought he was good looking!

> Long Island, NY I was extremely happy with the care I

received from Dr. Herron. He is a compassionate and skilled surgeon

who is a great advocate for his morbidly obese patients. Dr. Herron

took a great deal of time discussing different surgeries with me and

explaining in great detail the risks of WLS. I was scheduled to have

a lap BPD/DS but ended up having an open BPD/DS that took 7 hours to

complete because of an enormous amount of adhesions from a prior

gallbladder surgery. My recovery went well without any complications.

My follow up care was excellent. The office staff at Dr. Herron's has

improved over the last 6 months. When I first went to them, I think

they were overwhelmed with the amount of patients and how quickly the

practice was growing. There have been a few staff changes recently

and I find the current staff to be very responsive to my questions

and requests. I highly recommend Dr. Herron to anyone interested in

having WLS. He is my hero! Surgery: September 22, 2000

> Atlanta, GA 03/01/01 - UPDATE - I have elected to switch

doctors since it will be August or September before he could schedule

me. I met with Dr. Herron in NYC. He is fantastic. I am

scheduled for surgery April 10th. 02/16/00 - Still waiting for Dr.

to mail the LOMN. It is two weeks past when he said that he

would send it. I have also found it difficult to get through to his

staff and they have not returned any of my calls. 01/31/01 - I met

with Dr. today and think he is great. He spent a lot of time

educating a group of patients with a powerpoint presentation

answering basic questions. He then met with each of us individually

and answered our individual questions. He is going to craft a LOMN to

mail to the insurance company. I hope he does this expeditiously. His

staff was friendly and competent.

> Hoboken, NJ Dr. Herron was great. He cares about his

patients. He and his entire staff (office and hospital) was on top of

my recovery every day, at least 2-3 times per day. Dr. Herron

informed me of everything, i.e., percentages of death, what can

happen, etc., etc. He wanted to make sure you knew what all was

entailed regarding this type of surgery. I really don't have anything

negative to say only because he really was, to me anyway, very

informative, caring and sincere. He and his entire staff were on top

of things before surgery, time of surgery, during surgery and after

surgery. I rate him 10!!!

continues to be upgraded, and they are very informative and helpful

now that Ivonne has been replaced He emphasizes aftercare

greatly, and may not perform the operation on anyone who will not

uphold the standards for aftercare Dr Herron fully explained all of

the risks of surgery and also recommended that I have a " Greenfield

Filter " implanted into my Vena Cava to prevent any bloodclots from

reaching my heart and lungs Dr Herron is a top notched surgeon and he

also has a good bedside manner whereas he will address any concerns

overall impression of Dr. Herron was very good considering He was

having a very hectic day.He still took his time to go over everything

and explain the good and the bad. He did explain the risks of the

surgery. There was a patient in the waiting room who had many

complications and was explaining them to us and he actually said it

was good to hear both good and bad reports. There was also several

very satisfied patients, we were in the waiting room for three hours

so we got to talk to alot of patients. His office staff Diane and

of his staff. My personal impression is that I have made the right

> New York, NY I met Dr. Herron only once and was instantly at

ease. There was no sense of rushing in his explanation of the

procedures (including detailed sketches) and he is an excellent

listener. He asked what conclusions I had reached in my research and

listened to my reasoning for choosing the BPD/DS carefully. After

discussion, he agreed with my choice and I felt absolutely no

pressure from him and yet left the consultation with a tentative

surgery date, just in case I decided to proceed. His explanation of

the risks of surgery was detailed and matter-of-fact and I had the

sense that he enjoys his work and finds it very personally

satisfying. He was very clear that surgery is only a tool and that

regular follow-up is required and stressed the importance of vitamin

supplementation and adequate protein intake. He has a good sense of

humor and I would give him top rating in bedside manner.

faith and trust in him. He has a wonderful personality & bedside

manner. I never felt self-conscious or uncomfortable with him. When I

went for my first official appointment with him, I took a list of

about 50 questions (you can find a list of things to ask when

choosing a doctor at http://www.ossg-nyc-metro.org/...I strongly

recommend it) and he answered them all very thoroughly, and I even

felt comfortable enougth to ask some very private questions, which he

didnt bat an eye at. As for the staff, they are great too. Especially

Yvette...she has helped me make sense of all the steps and how to get

them done with the least amount of headache. She and Yvonne are both

EVERY DETAIL AND DREW DIAGRAMS.HE ASKED SEVERAL TIMES IF I HAD MORE

QUESTIONS.HE TOLD ME THAT MY BMI WAS 69.1(I WAS 380LBS.). HE WANTED

ME TO LOOSE 10-15 LBS. TO BE ON THE SAFER SIDE FOR THE MIMI BY PASS

PROCEDURE. HE ASSUERED THAT IF ANYTHING WENT WRONG DURING THE SURGERY

THAT HE WOULD CONTINUE ON USING THE OPEN PROCEDUERE AND MAKE A SMALL

AND SUPPORTIVE. HE WENT OVER IN DETAIL WHAT THE NEXT STEPS WERE

CONCERNING THE INSURANCE ETC. MY DATE IS 12/1/00. SOONER IF ALL THE

WORK IS COMPLETE.HIS NURSE YVONNE WAS VERY BUSINESS LIKE AND GAVE ME

INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO PROCEED. I NEEDED BLOOD WORK,A LETTER FROM MY

THERAPIST AND MY OWN DOCTOR. I ALSO NEEDED TO SEE A NUTRIONIST AND

HAVE A GASTRONOMY PROCEDURE DONE TO SEE IF I HAD STOMACH ULCERS OR

INFECTIONS. EVERYTHING COULD BE BE DONE AT MT. SINAI. AFTER READING

THIS YOU MUST KNOW THAT I AM VERY IMPRESSED WITH DR. HERRON AND I

FEEL CONFIDENT IAM IN GOOD HANDS. OH ,I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT HE

WENT OVER IN DETAIL THE RISKS AND AFTERCARE PLAN. HIS OFFICE STAFF

WAS BUSY BUT PROFESSIONAL. MY WAITING TIME WAS SHORT (MAYBE 15MIN.)

AND I NEEDED THAT TIME TO COMPLETE MY FORMS AND SURVEY.IN ANSWERING

ONE COULD HOPE FOR (PRIASE BE!).

educated and has lot's of clinical experience. His office in Mt.

Sinai is very busy and I had to wait for my fist appointment almost

two months. I e-mailed Dr. Herron and asked if there was a

cancellation could I be called? He responded very soon and said that

would not be a problem. I was soon called with a cancellation, and

went for my intial meeting.I waited a reasonable amount of time and

then had my visit. Dr Herron was very nice and professional. He

explained everything and even answered questions I had before I

asked. He drew pictures and gave me some web sites to check out. He

did a physical exam and said I would be a good canidate for

laproscopic bypass. He also went over the risk for surgery and the

lifetime of vitamins and dietary restrictions I would have.

If there is

anything negative to say at this stage, it is that I had to wait a

great deal past my appointment time to see him.

when I walk into my consult...I will be ready to go. So far, everyone

Not even the slightest complaint~

waited 10 minutes for my first consultation and was still seen before

normally a 2 hour wait.

I didn't feel any warm

very nice and friendly.

HE IS

at how young he is.

Dr. Herron to anyone.

return my call, once I got to speak with Yvette, she was terrific and

helped with scheduling and understanding pre-op tests/consultations.

But I do realize that the timeline was very

tight and consider myself fortunate to have had everything fall into

took a great deal of time discussing different surgeries with me and

explaining in great detail the risks of WLS. I was scheduled to have

He and his entire staff were on top

of things before surgery, time of surgery, during surgery and after

surgery. I rate him 10!!!

the total well being of his patients. Dr Herron's office staff

continues to be upgraded, and they are very informative and helpful

now that Ivonne has been replaced He emphasizes aftercare

greatly, and may not perform the operation on anyone who will not

uphold the standards for aftercare Dr Herron fully explained all of

the risks of surgery and also recommended that I have a " Greenfield

Filter " implanted into my Vena Cava to prevent any bloodclots from

reaching my heart and lungs Dr Herron is a top notched surgeon and he

also has a good bedside manner whereas he will address any concerns

that you have before or after the surgery

> Waldwick, NJ I had my consultation on Feb 8th 2001. My

overall impression of Dr.

Yvette were wonderful I really do not remember meeting other members

of his staff. My personal impression is that I have made the right

choice.

He has a good sense of

humor and I would give him top rating in bedside manner.

meetings, and new from that point that when i got my approval he would

be my surgeon. He was very easy to talk to,answered all my questions.I

had no problems with any of his staff.I especially liked his Pa.

.Dr Herron is a very good surgeon with the bed-side manner to go

with it.I loved the way he treated me as a patient. He also explained

in great detail about after care, what needs to be taken and having

regular blood work. When i had my consult he went over any and all

risks and possible compications that could occur. If i was to rate him

on a scale of 1 to 10 he would be a 10.He's great in both areas.I

looked for both, surgery is nothing new to me since i have had at

least 15 surgeries over the years. The only problem was he is in New

York.My surgery was Dec 15th,2000,i had a BPD/DS,and have had no

problems from day one.DR Herron is the DR to see.

and understanding. Dr. Herron made me feel very comfortable. He

answered all my question. My impression of Dr.Herron, remains the

same-I like his bedside manner. When I went to his office for the

first time, I was impressed with how friendly and profesional

answers to many of my questions. He referred me to his on staff

is nicer looking in person than on his website-

www.surgicallyslim.com!! I know I'm bad. Anyway, I met him yesterday,

Oct. 5 for the first time. I have corresponded with him through email

a few time with questions. He is very good and quick about answers

through email. I have to decide between either bpd/ds or regular

gastric bypass. When I went in there I was pretty set on duodenal

switch. He gave me more pros and cons for each to make me have a more

informed decision. His office staff is good, yes they are very busy

but they seem to be nice. His assistant, Yvette is very nice. I liked

her a lot. I scheduled my surgery for December 13-lap RNY.

that it was a little nutsy there. HOWEVER, the entire stafff,

particularly Yvette, were helpfull and caring. My appointment was

delayied and IJJ was kept informed of when it would be. I liked Dr.

Herron very much. He has fabulous credentials. One thing though, you

need to be very pro-active and follow through with everything - they

are too busy to check up on you. I made all my appointments but will

check fairly regulary to see that my test results and other pre-op

reports make it to them. He seemed very confident that insurance

would cover everything. 11/5/00 I am 4 days post op and have nothing

but kudos for Dr. Herron. He was wonderful to me both during pr-op

wonderful - while you may end up waiting a long time for your

> Brooklyn, NY Dr. Herron is absolutely wonderful! I have

never liked doctors...and since the moment I met him, I had complete

faith and trust in him.

She and Yvonne are both

dolls. :) Only negative thing was the wait...if you have a 9:00 appt

dont expect to be seen before 10. And poor magazine selection! If

anyone goes to Dr. Herron, and has some magazines you could donate,

please do. Im going to take some in too. :)

WEEKS OF RESEARCH I CHOSE HIM BECAUSE OF THE POSITVE AND GLOWING

COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE ON THIS SIGHT AND BECAUSE HE PERFORMED THE TYPE

OF SURGERY (MINIMALLY INVASIVE)THAT I WANTED TO HAVE. THE FACT THAT

HE WAS AT MT. SINAI HOSPITAL HERE IN MANHATTAN WAS PERFECT. DR.

HERRON WAS THE IDEAL HEALTH CARE PROVIDER.HE EXTENDED HIS HAND AND

WELCOMED MY DAUGHTER AND ME.HE WAS RELAXED,CONFIDENT AND

REASSURING.EVEN THOUGH I KNOW HE HAD GIVEN THIS SAME PRESENTATION

PROBABLY A HUNDRED TIMES ,HE WAS IN THHE MOMENT WITH ME.HE EXPLAINED

AS INCISION AS POSSIBLE.WHEN HE EXAMINED ME HE WAS EFFICIENT,GENTLE

THIS SURVEY THEY SAID TO BALANCE MY REVIEW,BUT IN ALL HONESTY I HAVE

NOTHING NEGATIVE TO REPORT...... I WILL SAY THOUGH THAT THIS IS MY

replied in less than a half hour! Very very impressed. =) Looking

forward to meeting him on Thursday 10/19. 10/19 UPDATE: Met Dr.

Herron and I know in my heart I made the right choice. He seemed

pleased that I did my research prior to my consultation and the

meeting went by with only one bump in the road - my crying (you all

have been there, right) at the thought of finally finding the

solution and finding someone as wonderful as Dr. Herron to help

provide the key " tool " to that solution. The nursing team of Yvette

(what a sweetheart!) and Yvonne, and the kind receptionist (who

put up with my numerous " any cancellation " phone calls last week)

were just delights to deal with. I know I have made the right choice.

minute I met him. He was very easy to talk to, answered all questions

and explained everything in detail (with drawings, of course). This

includes, of course, all the risks involved. In my case, he went thru

the pros and cons of the Duodenal Switch surgery vs. RNY. However,

the way the office is run is a different story. They seem to lose

papers a lot. Things have to be faxed multiple times - at least I had

to. They are very nice to talk to over the phone (since I live out of

state) and also respond to emails quickly. Bottom line: Dr. Herron is

an excellent surgeon who also posesses great bedside manners. Great

very polite, low key and professional. He seemed to be on top of the

Yvette who is also a nurse i think takes care of sending the paper

work to the inurance and the person who takes care while you are

waiting to hear from your insurance is evie. The office seems a

little disorganzied and i think that Bernadatte despite her

efficiency is over worked because she takes care of all the patients
