Guest guest
My oldest daughter, Leah, had croup with pneumonia at 11 months of age (she's 14 now) and was hospitalized in an oxygen tent for 5 days to recuperate and my daughter, Tirzah (8 now), also had it at 11 months and it led to bone marrow suppression/temporary failure. Both girls have Mito symptoms but nothing major as of yet. They both have autonomic issues and migraines, but no stroke activity, unless that is why Tirzah has eye damage (?-which is very probable since Asi, Luke, and I also have had eye issues). She always looks very pale, has scraggly, thin hair, dark circles under her eyes, and is very skinny. I often worry about her, but none of her labs came back abnormal when Dr. Whiteman saw her so she hasn't been tested further. I keep worrying she will go downhill at some point. Croup and other viral attacks just seem to happen much more frequently in Mito kids. My Mito kids get everything! One person sniffles in the home and they get ill for weeks. See www.caringbridge.org/ia/mitomomof9 and this link to see a real look into Mito using a photo collage of my girls at www.heartbeatsformito.org Darla: mommy to Asenath (4) Mito, CNS Vasculitis, strokes, migraines, seizures, G-tube, hypotonicity, disautonomy, SID, dev. delays, asthma, cyclic vomiting...
