Guest guest
Rose I called the pharmacy today & asked if Focalin was covered by my part D. The pharmacist said he'd need the scrip in front of him since it was a schedule 2(I guess narcotic?) he couldn't put it in & just cancel it or something like that. I'll try to get it down there tomorrow and find out. If it's $150 to help me with the fatigue so I can clean the house I know I can give my daughter $30 and she'll do it for me & I can save $120! LOL There is the possibility I could get it filled up at UC's pharmacy for $3 but I haven't gone to talk to the financial counselors or get my meds there since my Medicare went into affect. It's at least a 3 hour deal if you have to stand in all 4 lines. Big Bummer to do something like housework that I hate anyway. LOL Maybe I'll just wait & see if they have the next trial Dr Lower talked about before long......Decisions, Decisions........I am freaked out about it being a cousin to Ritalin. My grandkids told me some of the students at their school will take other peoples Neurontin & Ritalin for a buzz. We are getting a small bad bunch of tenants in this building and I'd hate for someone to break in here and take my meds. One of the women I talked to in the laundry room and she was talking about trying to get Neurontin from her MOTHER. Her mom said "NO" fortunately. She said she's had a headache for weeks. My daughter said she's probably having withdrawls and for me not to let her use my phone again. LOL The tables have turned & she's mothering me.Join our Sock Challenge for Orphans in Kazakhstan - 265 pairs needed by 9/15/07 http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/Mittens_ for_Akkol/ grannylunatic@... Guest guest
, I just got my Focalin filled at Walgreen's & it was $104.00. I'm in the gap, so haven't checked yet to see if my drug plan will cover it. Remember to ask your doctor for a coupon if you try it; you can get the first prescription free. The manufacturer also has a patient assistance program for it: this is the website: http://www.pharma.us.novartis.com/novartis/pap/pap_other_products_enroll.jsp?usertrack.filter_applied=true & NovaId=1178761738872555510 I've been trying to find something on Focalin besides the ADD sites, but all I've found is a couple of mentions that it has been used for sleep disorders & depression. Hopefully, Baughman or someone will begin an official study soon. Maybe you could participate! Meanwhile, here is a brief description of how the Focalin differs from Ritalin; this is from About.Com: Pediatrics. FocalinThe theory about the superiority of Focalin is that it is made of just one part of Ritalin, and leaves another part, which is inactive and may contribute to side effects, out. This is supposed to work because medicines are made of two isomers or parts and you really only need one of those parts for the medicine to work. Xopenex, one isomer of racemic (mixed) albuterol, which is used to treat asthma, is made the same way. In addition to supposedly being more effective and having less side effects, making a medicine by taking away one isomer often allows you to use a lower dose of the medicine. And in fact, Focalin is often prescribed at half the dose that someone taking Ritalin might take. Hope this helps! Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine.
