This might seem like a strange question but when people go to see

Dr. Ponseti or dr.s in other states are they paying out of pocket or

through insurance?

Because Dr. Ponseti does not specifically recommend any Dr.s in Utah

we may have to travel back to CA for continued care and it will

probably be outside of our insurance group plan. Has anyone ever

dealt with this before?

Do insurance companies refer you that far or do we pay out of pocket?

Thanks

As far as Dr. Santora goes, he is free, as all services with the Shriner's

are... You only have to fill out a Shriner's application and send it in. I would

be leary of him though... we are only using him in " emergencies " . Where are you

in Utah? I checked and Dr Showalter of Boise is the closest Ponseti doc... with

CA docs next if you're talking milage from the Salt Lake area.

Faith-

We are in Draper, UT. We are still on Cobra (w/a California Company) until my

husband's new job benefits kick in. We are still going to his Dr. (Dr. King) in

LA until November. At that time I am not sure what we will do. I wrote to Dr.

Ponseti, and Joyce, his assistant? wrote back stating that she could not

recommend anyone in the UT area right now but would get back to me. I would

probably use his LA dr. if they cannot recommend one here in the next few

months. He's due for another check up in Dec.

Really, My son is not my main concern, I would be willing to pay out of pocket

for his check ups and shoes for however long. But I am concerned if we have

another baby that has CF, then I would be more inclined to have a Dr. closer for

casts, tenatomy, etc...

Thanks for the info.
