Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have a question. I was wondering if we have to eat so much protien, how does it affect the cholesterol levels? Does it go up in time because of you are supposed to eat more meats? I am concerned about this because I don't like beans, eggs, or cottage cheese much. I do love cheese though. And yogert is ok. Just wondering and I am so appriciate of this group. I read everything that is posted. ) I am learning so much from this group. By the way, I have another question for you guys, its a bit embarassing, but here goes. I weigh too much for my 300lb scales, (I am, I think, 365ish) and someone told me that if you stand on two scales evenly, you can tell your weight by adding the two up. I was at Wal-Mart the other day, and I kept trying to stand on two scales and see, but people kept coming, and I was too embarrassed to be seen doing this...lol. Well, that is all for now. Thanks so much for your answeres and this whole group. You guys are awesome. Oh, and by the way, 'Joe, I will be praying for you too, I strongly believe in the power of prayer!' Guest guest
Hi Tami- I'm not sure yet how cholesterol levels are affected.. in those postops who have posted labs, it seems cholesterol dropped. Remember, the Cholesterol in meat comes mostly from animal fat, and with the DS, you won't absorb much fat..so it makes sense that it would be reduced. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will tell me <G>. About the scales thing.. yes, it works.. but its hard as heck to look at one, then the other, without shifting your weight a little. Its more like a " close estimation " of your weight (I'm doing it now, & it makes me crosseyed). My mom & I have the same scale, so I borrowed hers until I can use one accurately. Hope this helps- Hugs, Liane > Hi everyone, > I have a question. I was wondering if we have to eat so much protien, > how does it affect the cholesterol levels? Guest guest
My numbers dropped from 220 or 230 to 170 (I think). I don't have my labs near by but I do know they dropped quite a bit since my surgery. TJ LAP DS 2/16/01 Dr.Dennis ,Jr. Marietta, GA -80 lbs. > Hi everyone, > I have a question. Guest guest
> Hi everyone, > I have a question. I was wondering if we have to eat so much protien, how does it affect the cholesterol levels? Mine went from 206 pre-surgery in Feb., to 149 in May. In July it was down to 146. My bad cholesterol is very low, my good cholesterol is a little low, and my triglycerides area little low. However, both levels had improved between May and July. Plus I have not taked the cholesterol medicine (Zocor) since the surgery. Just one more medicine that i don't need anymore.Cool, huh? I keep saying that even if i never lose another pound, that the surgery was well worth it. Since the day I went into the hospital I have been completely off Zocor, Prinival (HBP), and actos, glyburide, glucophage and insulin (diabetes). Of course, my statement above isn't rreally true. If I never lose another pound, I am going to be really p--sed off! LOL Ellen DS 2/14/01 310 Dr. Anthone 8/7/01 234 - 76 lbs
