GlacierHi,

I'd like to hear from anyone who has been using those new Markell shoes -

they're suppoosed to be padded and have a hole in the heel is my

understanding...is that correct? Everett's about out grown his s and

I'd like to find a new pair that we can begin breaking in before this pair is

totally too small.

I'm not sure where i " d get the shoes, either. I do have a red adjustable bar,

just need shoes.

thanks,

shawnee

Do you think a hole could be cut in this particular style? It's such a comfort

to KNOW the shoe is on correctly instead of finding out the hard way with

blisters and loss of correction. That is one thing about shoes, there

is no mystery.

ee,

We have the newer Markells, but no hole in the heel. I think they

only put the hole in the itty bitty sizes. We have not had a bit of

trouble with the shoes this time around (no need for the hole), it did

take a couple days to break them in but that was it. The padding in

the back of the heel is certainly better than the old ones but nothing

special IMO. Any orthotics shop should be able to get them for you

and attach the appropriate sole plate for the red bar. Or you may be

able to order directly from Markell.

Re: the new shoes - JAY

Absolutely, the way I did it with our last pair was to drill a hole

with DH's 1/4 inch drill bit. I did it just a little right of the

center in the back, about 1/4 in. away from the bottom. The hole was

about as big as my pinky so I could see in there and see his heel but

it did not break down the integrity of the shoe at all. It had a few

frayed bits of the inner material of the shoe that I had to trim off

with an exacto knife but the drill worked beautifully. It actually

worked the best when I removed the tongue and drilled from the inside out.
