Guest guest
In the files section of this group's " home page " you will find a file of tips to help you and your child use the FAB....I am assuming here that by prostetic shoes you mean the boots with a bar between them??? That is what we refer to as the FAB, or Foot Abduction Brace. Others call it the DBB, or Dennis Brown Bar. Briefly there could be a couple things happening with your baby - the shoes are too big perhaps. Or the foot was not ready to go to the shoe, the foot being improperly treated or not treated far enough along. Can you tell us who is your doctor and where you're from? We might be able to point you to other help knowing these things. Look for that file though and if you have trouble locating it come back and one of us will forward it directly. Good luck! s. HELP - Keeping the shoes on HELP I need to know if anyone has ideas about the prosetic shoes in keeping the on? My son is 3.5 month old, he had his cast on 1 week after he was born. After 8 weeks he had surgury on his tendons. After the surgury he had cast on for 3 week. Well know the doctor has put on the prostetic shoes. Which I am having a hard time keeping them on, as he crys allot and his feet will not stay in the shoes. I am also a single mom and do not have any help. Any idea's would help me. Guest guest
Hello, My son also had a difficult time staying in the shoes. I would double sock the left foot as it was the one that came off more. I would also tighten up the strap a bit more and make sure that the laces were snug. Hope this helps, but make sure to check his feet for redness or soreness that can become a blister. Thanks

Guest guest
Hello There, I don't know if our cildren have the same style of shoes. My son has the DBB. A few tricks I learned were to one: Use your thumb to press down on the top-center of the foot, pushing the heel into place before tightening the buckle. two: I bougth thick shoe laces. The ones they came with were very thin and had trouble staying tied. I bought thick laces, just shy of being too thick to fit through the holes. Those seemed to keep my son from wiggling his shoes off and stayed tied. three: My son is 14 months and only wears the shoes at night. He flexs his foot and points his toes to get his foot out. So I buckle the shoes one hole tighter than necessary until he falls asleep (keeping the shoes too tight to come out of) and then after he falls asleep I loosen the buckle one hole fom ensured circulation and comfort. Good Luck... It will get easier when you get more comfortable and your child does. Stacie star22aidan wrote: HELP I need to know if anyone has ideas about the prosetic shoes in keeping the on?
