You are so funny. I chuckle to myself everytime I hear " tasty

morsel " in other contexts.

I sent in my registration yesterday, and as I marked the bubble

indicating " full marathon " I had to say, " You can do this. You can

really do this. " Everytime I think about it, I get excited, and I

repeat my positive mantra, " You can do this. " The longest I've ever

run is 15 miles, so 26.2 isn't that much more.

The training program was such a GREAT experience last year. And talk

about tasty morsels. Half the fun was running with all these hot

guys in muscle shirts and running shorts. My pace group however was

mostly comprised of 20-something year-old Marina Girls (yes,

Robynn... Marina Girls; tall, slender, single, and beautiful... just

like you). However, there was one ish hottie, Alasdair (talk

about a tasty morsel--6'2 " , blonde with perfect dazzling white teeth,

sparkling blue eyes, and runners legs), whose ish Brogue was

like music to my ears. We went out for coffee once, but nothing came

of it. Maybe he and I will see each other again during the training

that begins in Feb 2006. But I digress...

For the first time in my life, I feel athletic, no longer

genderless. I feel like a man with a man's body. I feel physical

strength that somehow (mind-body-spirit connection?) translates into

emotional resilience and spiritual depth.

Once while running past some tourists in San Francisco, one guy

called out " Eye of the Tiger, dude! " (a reference to " Rocky " ). I

smiled and laughed for the rest of the run. On another occasion, a

really cute guy, upon seeing my National AIDS Marathon tank top

said, " Hey man, thanks for doing what you're doing, " referencing the

money raised to help fight HIV infection and AIDS.

I never believed that I'd be active and athletic ever in my life.

I'd now rather run than watch TV. Now I'd rather dance than eat

poorly. Now I'd rather live fully than live a half life. Running

and weight lifting makes this all possible. It's simply amazing.
