I cannot believe it! Now what? Driving there would be the only thing I

could think of but I wouldn't go alone either. If I was closer to you I

would definitely take the ride with you guys. How far are you from me

anyway? Hours?

They cancelled our Flight!

Angel Flights cancelled our Flight to Iowa. I am so bummed I have

fought so hard to take him, and now its down the tubes again. I was

thinking, just leave tonight and drive it's about 16 hours on

mapquest. But I can't find anyone to drive with me & Collin I don't

want to do it with just him & me. I'm going to try to call one more

person. My husband would have been able to with more notice, but

Angel Flights told us a while back he couldn't come too becuase the

less people the easier to get voulunteers, so he is scheduled to work

his regular job and 3 side jobs while we are gone that he can't back

out of now or he would. I am so so so bummed!! If anyone can think

of any suggestions please let me know, I'm brain storming but I'm so

upset that my brain's no longer working!!!!!

I'm just going to start again tommorow figuring things out. Angel

Flights said they would repost our information to fly out next

Thursday instead, and I told them that is fine. But honestly I have

lost my faith in them (at least North East Angel Flights, I think

they are unorganized and I'm honestly not sure how hard they tried or

cared). Last time they had over a month and couldn't do it, so

nothing makes me think they can do it this time in a week. But

hopefully they will prove me wrong. I still have to call Dr. P & the

Mc House in the morning and let them know, and tell them

that Angel Flights is putting us on the list again for next week so

I'll have to see if they will make room for us just in case, but I

wouldn't blame them if they didn't want to since it may just fall

through again.

My husband & I will have to sit down this week and go over our

schedules to see when he can arrange to have off to go with me to

drive. It really pisses me off (not at him, at Angel Flights)

because he already has scheduled off because they said he could come

too, then they said no, because we had to keep the weight under a

certain amount, etc.. so he rescheduled himself to work, plus extra

jobs since we were going to be away. He said he would do it, its

just that he is already scheduled to work like a month ahead, which

makes it difficult. So we will have to probably reschedule at least

a month in advace if we drive toghter. Just so much planning went

into this thats why I'm so upset and mad. I had to go talk to

Collin's school too, because I had already said I was using " vacation

days " for him Thurday & Friday, etc, so I already told them he will

be there and paid for those days so we don't waste vacation days with

them. Collin asked me why we were getting ready for the airplanes, I

just told him they weren't ready, that they have to find us a new

one, but mommy would tell him when they were ready.

your are just so sweet!!! Your boys are lucky to have you! You just

made me cry (but happy tears!!) I mapquested my house to the

Mc House and it was a little bit less then 16 hours, I figured

I would drive as much as I can then get a hotel rest, and drive

again, trying to get there the night before, so we could get a good

nights sleep and let Collin run around a bit before seeing Dr. P.

I'm not sure how far I am from you I forget which town you live in,

my guess is about an hour, if you mapquest us our zip code is 08012

if that shows up with too many towns do my work at 08035, that's like

10 minutes from our home.

I'm going to go get some sleep, so I can get a fresh start tommorow!

I just gotta say, that sucks the big one! Oh how disappointing! :'(

I have missed posts for almost a week now being away, but I do know

that last week Angel Flights told Christee of some airlines that do

the same thing. So perhaps you should ask them if they have any

information about that in your area. Maybe if you find the right

airline they'll stick you on a flight tomorrow just to fill the

space. Who knows what's available last minute?

I do know of a couple big airlines that fly kids to there medical appts. like

Angel Flights. They are real stern, and Ive never actually used them. They I

know require 2-3week notice for approval. But if you woul dlike their info, let

me know, and Id be happy to give it to ya. Sorry to hear about your delay. Just

remember, everything happens for a reason...

That really stinks, Michele. I hope you find a way

to get Collin to Dr. P. soon. What a disappointment

for you.

I'm wondering if Hurricane Katrina had anything to

do with their ability to find a pilot for you. I

saw on the news this morning that Angel Flights is

contributing to the relief efforts (I wouldn't be

surprised if they had marshalled pilots/planes from

all over the country).

I really hate to function w/uncertainty, so I know this

could be maddening for you. But as someone said earlier,

in the end things will work out for the best (boy have

I learned that lesson over and over).

Here's sending a prayer that things will fall into

place and Collin will be with master soon.

Michele,

I am wondering if the Mc houses have any kind of program

that lets traveling parents stay at one house while they are on their

way to another house? For example, if you have to drive to Iowa,

could you stop in St. Louis and spend the night at our RMH and then

drive on to Iowa city? This is just a thought, might be able to save

you the cost of a hotel for the night if you end up driving there.

I am wondering if the Mc houses have any kind of program

way to another house? For example, if you have to drive to Iowa,

Michele,

I am sorry to hear about Angel Flights cancelling out. 16 hours is a

long drive to make by yourself. Given the distance and your

circumstances, could Dr. Ponseti squeeze you in at a time when your

husband could drive out with your or when you could get another

flight?

I was going through the messages here looking for more tips on

keeping my son from wiggling out of his shoes, but still keep him

comfortable, and I saw that Aetna at one point took Hawa off of your

case too. Did they take away ALL of her clubfoot cases, because we

got the same call. Fortunately, they sent us a letter indicating that

his orthotics were covered and we haven't had a problem getting the

shoes paid for at Harry J. Lawall since (although they do seem to

pawn off old stock on us). You were really helpful to me in finding

her (Hawa) and getting Aetna to pay for these shoes. What a small

pregnant, we met with both Dr. Herzenberg at Sinai, and Dr. son

at CHOP. I did not get the best vibe from Dr. davidson... especially

when he said our baby would not be much of an athelete, and when he

started discussing how he " tweaks " the Ponseti method.

I hope you are able get to Iowa to see Dr. Ponseti, and that

everything works out for you.

I am sorry to hear about Angel Flights cancelling out. 16 hours is a

long drive to make by yourself. Given the distance and your

circumstances, could Dr. Ponseti squeeze you in at a time when your

husband could drive out with your or when you could get another

flight?

I was going through the messages here looking for more tips on

keeping my son from wiggling out of his shoes, but still keep him

comfortable, and I saw that Aetna at one point took Hawa off of your

case too. Did they take away ALL of her clubfoot cases, because we

got the same call. Fortunately, they sent us a letter indicating that

his orthotics were covered and we haven't had a problem getting the

shoes paid for at Harry J. Lawall since (although they do seem to

pawn off old stock on us). You were really helpful to me in finding

her (Hawa) and getting Aetna to pay for these shoes. What a small

Hi Joanne,

I forgot how close you are to us. Dr. is a great

peditrician, everyone I know from all over south jersey drives to

see them. Did she mention that she knew of clubfoot, etc. to you

when you starting to go there or give you opinions on doctors? My

husband and I will probably end up scheduling a time to drive out

together but it won't happen now until another month probably.

Angel Flights did put us in again for next Thursday, but I'm a

skeptic with them right now. I talked to Dr. Ponseti's office and

they are great and I'm sure they will squeeze us in when ever we get

there.

That's great that all Harry Lawalls cover the shoes now with Aetna,

they use to be a pain, I didn't know that. We were going to one in

Westmont/Haddonfield across from PJ's but he always messed up the

shoes, sizes, etc. Then we started using a place in Bellmawr by the

42 entrance called C.O.P.D. services and they custom make them

there. That is weird you lost Hawa for a bit too, we have her back

but she has been no help to us lately. I'm still mad at her for

saying we had permission to goto Iowa, she even told Haddon Peds.

decency to even call me and say she screwed up, etc. That is funny,

our kids see all of the same doctors! If you ever want to try to

meet one day for lunch or at a park let me know. I use to take

Collin to the indoor mcdonald playland a lot when he was little in

I think Angel Flights in GENERAL is wonderful but I admit I have had some bad

experiences with them myself. The worst was the last time we hoped to use their

service Everett was just born and we were trying to get to Iowa City. We knew

we'd be there several ? weeks, didn't know how long it would take exactly - but

they would only fly the baby and I - my dh couldn't come, and my 5 year old

certainly couldn't go. (I'd flown big 8 passenger planes twice in the past)

OK, maybe that is somewhat understandable they didn't want to transport the

whole family, and in that event we decided to find an alternate travel plan...I

called to tell the AF guy to tell him but the guy on the phone got down right

ugly at us to the point my dh took the telephone from me and HE got an ear full

of anger from the guy and being a man, he gave an ear full in return. I doubt

we'll ever be able to use AF again after all that. I dont' know why all that

went so bad. I'd flown with them about 8 times in the past with my oldest kid.

That was in the middle of my divorce and I think back then it aggrivated them.

Re: They cancelled our Flight!

I'm just going to start again tommorow figuring things out. Angel

Flights said they would repost our information to fly out next

Thursday instead, and I told them that is fine. But honestly I have

lost my faith in them (at least North East Angel Flights, I think

they are unorganized and I'm honestly not sure how hard they tried or

cared). Last time they had over a month and couldn't do it, so

nothing makes me think they can do it this time in a week. But

hopefully they will prove me wrong. I still have to call Dr. P & the

Mc House in the morning and let them know, and tell them

that Angel Flights is putting us on the list again for next week so

I'll have to see if they will make room for us just in case, but I

wouldn't blame them if they didn't want to since it may just fall

through again.

My husband & I will have to sit down this week and go over our

schedules to see when he can arrange to have off to go with me to

drive. It really pisses me off (not at him, at Angel Flights)

because he already has scheduled off because they said he could come

too, then they said no, because we had to keep the weight under a

certain amount, etc.. so he rescheduled himself to work, plus extra

jobs since we were going to be away. He said he would do it, its

just that he is already scheduled to work like a month ahead, which

makes it difficult. So we will have to probably reschedule at least

a month in advace if we drive toghter. Just so much planning went

into this thats why I'm so upset and mad. I had to go talk to

Collin's school too, because I had already said I was using " vacation

days " for him Thurday & Friday, etc, so I already told them he will

be there and paid for those days so we don't waste vacation days with

them. Collin asked me why we were getting ready for the airplanes, I

just told him they weren't ready, that they have to find us a new

one, but mommy would tell him when they were ready.

Thanks so much , for even thinking that you would go with us,

your are just so sweet!!! Your boys are lucky to have you! You just

made me cry (but happy tears!!) I mapquested my house to the

Mc House and it was a little bit less then 16 hours, I figured

I would drive as much as I can then get a hotel rest, and drive

again, trying to get there the night before, so we could get a good

nights sleep and let Collin run around a bit before seeing Dr. P.

I'm not sure how far I am from you I forget which town you live in,

my guess is about an hour, if you mapquest us our zip code is 08012

if that shows up with too many towns do my work at 08035, that's like

10 minutes from our home.

I'm going to go get some sleep, so I can get a fresh start tommorow!
