It was one way I knew that I would soon be having fun in the bathroom! LOL I got them late at night/early a.m. and woke up immediately. It's what got me to the bathroom on time without having problems. :) I guess that's one positive way to think of them.... At about one month out I stopped having the early a.m. poohs and now have my bms upon waking. AFter that, I rarely have some in the afternoon or evening. It's kind of nice to just have them in the a.m. when I know I'll be home and I can devote my '10 minutes or so' to bathroom duty. I still can have cramps on ocassion but they aren't that regular. Usually it will be related to something I eat now whereas it was pretty common in my first weeks post-op. I hope things even out soon.... If the cramps go away with a bm and don't continue, I think it's just your colon adjusting to the new arrangement. It *may* even be a form of 'spastic colon' (like I have). The colon just spazzes out in reaction to food reaching it (usually rather quickly). It is not very pleasant at all. Hopefully yours in temporary. I usually have cramps in the evening or if I am particularly stressed out in my lower right abdomen. It is in a specific place wheras the pre-diahhrea cramps were more dispersed and more urgent. These spastic colon cramps are not related to going to the bathroom per se. all the best, lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt.
