Sherry,

I have seen this in my daughter too, but within hours to a few minutes of having a seizure. I have found that soft classical music sometimes calms her.

>>The seizures are happening in clumps, like every 2-3 weeks now. Before, it was every once in a while. Is this typical of Mito? <<

Chelsea's seizures also cluster as well, her neuro also said they were self perpetuating (one would trigger another and so on). I was told this is because of her abnormal EEG, she has diffuse background slowing of brainwaves, and areas where her neurons misfire, or spike. Chelsea was previously diagnosed with nonspecific mito, but was found to have the gene mutation for Rett Syndrome. Her EEG is very typical with RS, but is also seen in other neuro disorders.

Chelsea's seizures have been under good control with Keppra, and the recent addition of Lamictal. Illness is her worst time for seizures, that is usually the first thing I think when her seizures start. I hope is doing better soon=)
