Welcome to the group and congratulations on your new baby! :) Who is your

doctor? We sort of try to keep tabs on what doctors are using the method vs.

those who just " claim " to use the method. I'm ee, I have two sons,

both with bilateral clubfoot. 1st was not treated by Ponseti Method,

(bad)...but our 2nd was (good!). I have baby #3 on the way, don't know if

he/she will have cf yet or not. We're glad to have you here. How much longer

until you move in to the FAB?

Hi, new to group...

Hi everyone,

My wife Staci and I are new members to the group. Our son Cade was born with

a left clubfoot on August 11. Thankfully our doctor has been using the

Ponseti method for 9 years now and got us in our first cast within 6 days of

birth. Everything is going well so far, but I'm sure we will have many

questions once we move to the brace.

In searching the web for information I noticed several websites had outdated

info including the well known " about.com " site. I contacted the site " guide "

and asked they include information on the Ponseti method and he was glad to

oblige (see email below).

Wishing everyone well,

-Chris

>Dear

You are absolutely right. That information is dated, because everyone I

know who does pediatric orthopedics uses the Ponseti method for clubfoot

care. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention and I will ensure an

update is made.

Cluett, M.D.

Welcome, Staci, & Cade!

We're glad you joined us! Like ee, I'd like to know what doctor

you're seeing! Is he/she on Dr. P's list?

If you've got a good doctor who is not on the list, we try to get

parents to encourage the doctor to submit the paperwork to get on it-

it's the best tool we have for referring families to doctors!

I'm so happy that you took the initiative to contact the About.com guy

and get that information modified! Kudos to you!!!!!

We're glad you're here- please keep us updated on Cade's progress!

Regards,

I am new to the group as well. My son , 11 weeks old with BL CF, is

being treated in Little Rock, Arkansas by Dr. Dale Blasier with Arkansas

Children's Hospital. He and staff are trained in the Ponsetti method and his

nurse is not sure why he and the other 3 drs. in the state of Arkansas are not

on the list.

has gone thru casting, tendon release surgery and the DBB, a modified

brace b/c the Markell shoes with the DBB were not working and now, well we ae

considering the /ponsetti brace b/c the modified brace is worse than the

DBB.

Welcome & -

Your doctor would have to contact the U of Iowa directly and they

will tell him how to submit the paperwork to be listed on Dr.

Ponseti's list. He has to submit case studies and explain how he

applies the method so that Dr. P can be sure that he is following

the protocol properly. As you've probably read, many doctors

*think* they're using the Ponseti method, when they really aren't!

What kind of modified brace did you have for ? Has your

doctor indicated that has any particular issues with his

feet (a-typical?) that made the Markell shoes a challenge? Do you

think his feet are still corrected since you've been struggling with

keeping the brace on him? There is another group, CFPics on yahoo,

where you can share pictures of his feet with us (this group doesn't

allow attachments for security reasons) and we can give you input if

you'd like.

We're glad you're here!

& (3-16-00, left clubfoot)

, What modified brace are you referring to??? This is news to me and I " m

interested in hearing about it. As far as Arkansas, hmmm, I'm over here in NE

Oklahoma and haven't heard a word about Arkansas. Two years ago I emailed Dr.

POnseti when our 2nd cf boy was born, asking if there wasn't someone closer to

us and they told me there wasn't anyone closer than St. Louis at that time.
