Guest guest
Hi all, I've been lurking on this list now for several months. I find that the discussions on issues, even though somewhat controversial and heated at times, are very beneficial to me as I go through my own decision-making process concerning this surgery. If we fall victim to group-think, critical issues may not be challenged resulting in new ideas that benefit all of us. Respect for one another is the key during the debates. I am interested in your experiences concerning the amount of time you were off work after surgery. I teach at the college level and I have off from Dec. 7th until Jan. 14th. I have a consultation appointment with Dr. Sudan in Omaha on Sept. 23d and was told it may be possible to schedule surgery early in December. I anticipate the open DS because I've had 2 C-sections and a tummy tuck (it seemed like a good idea at the time). So, what do you think? On average, is the time frame I described enough time? I realize complications can change the entire picture, but I don't know if one ever has enough time off to plan for complications. Thanks for all your help! Hi Beverly, I too tried to plan on the most convienient time to take time off and thought I had all my bases covered. Guess what, complications and I now expect to be off about 12 weeks. The moral of my story is, expect the unexpected and plan for the worst. Open DS with Dr. Anthone 7/6/
Guest guest
Hello Beverly Before I answer your question I must say I AM NOT THE NORM!!!!! I had open BPD/DS June 25, and went back to work at my 5th week I didnt have any serious complications immediately after surgery and by the 4th week I was bored out of my skull and would have gone back to work but there was alot of crap going on there so I decided to take an additional week. If I had been smart I would have asked for another 3 off LOL just kidding. I think your time off really depends. I say ask for the maximum time off and take it. The human body can not be rushed to heal! Good luck and please keep us posted. Lisbeth Dr. Macura June 25, 2001 bpayne1013@... wrote: Hi all, I've been lurking on this list now for several months.
