Guest guest
Truthfully, Nick.. It again depends on each case.. for someone with a healthy set of lungs, recovery and survival is pretty good. If we are speaking of someone with problems, survival rates drop as the respiratory system is more & more compromised.. worst-case being someone with congestive obstructive pulmonary disease or severe respiratory depression. I've cared for quite a few patients who survived pulmonary embolus.. but they were otherwise essentially healthy, as a rule. I did have one lung transplant patient with PE.. she did very well in the end, but we were worried for a while. I have mixed feelings about greenfield filters.. because any implanted device in the circulatory system (heart valve, greenfield filter, ventricular assist device) also increases the probability of clot formation.. once again, you have to consider each person on an individual basis. Hope this " sort of " answers your question.. lol..
