Guest guest
, Just want to encourage you to use something like prevacid, especially if GERD is causing reflux. If that is the case, I would also recommend seeing a GI and considering surgical intervention. Long term reflux can cause esophageal erosions, permanent lung damage, and esophageal cancer. It is not something to mess around with. GERD in a child over the age of two, is almost always permanent. In our area, a child over two who has both GERD and asthma gets a Nissen fundoplication (surgical correction). If your son has asthma, are you using inhaled steroids like pulmicort or advair? They are wonderful and can reduce dependence on xopenex. It is perfectly normal for sats to vary between 94 and 95%. Don't know why your doc would be concerned about that at all. Sats always vary by a point or two within a very short time. A medication to thin secretions may be in order. Our DD started Humabid LA, an expectorant, about a week ago. It is an extended release version OTC Mucinex or Robitussin. She takes 1/2 a tab (300mg) and is six and about 40 lbs.
Guest guest
> Zach is on pulmicort and xeponex. He used to have reflux pretty bad at 4-6 months because of the low tone they saidd . He was on reglan and zantac. Which helped, he would scream in pain any time he ate. I think they're gonna suggest another barium study done. He hasnt had one since 4 months. I am guessing he will need something to thin his mucous. An expectorant like Humabid LA or something similar can be helpful. How old is Zach? Our has done MUCH better on Advair than she ever did on pulmicort. YOu just have to be able to suck in. If GERD is the problem, ask about a Nissen.
