Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I haven't written for a while, but I check in and read once in a while. I am doing well. My surgery was Nov. 7th and I have lost 76 lbs. What a difference it makes! Sometimes I get impatient and want to lose faster, but I know each person is different. Tina, I haven't seen you at the Vacaville support group but I saw your recent picture and you look fabulous! I have a hard time eating something that agrees with me in the morning also. Do you ever drink protein shakes ? I know we were told not to, but I worry about getting enough protein in every day. Did you ever have any problem with chicken ? Sometimes when I eat it it feels like a hard ball in my pouch. Pam E. - In gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients , " Tina " <ma2two@s...> wrote: > > I have non-fat, decaf lattes quite frequently. Guest guest
Pam E. Sometimes when you feel like you have the little hard ball, you might not have chewed your food well enough, eating to fast, if the food is to dry ( a little overcooked) or you've eaten even just a bit to much. Chicken does seem to be the one to do this most. So when you're having chicken, think of how many times your chewing, if it feels really chewed up in your mouth before you swallow and rest in between bites to see if your pouch feels full before you take the next bite. These are some things as time goes by that we think we can hurry our meal so we're not late some where, or whatever and that's when it does it. Slow down enjoy what food we do in take and chew well and know when your pouch is full. This will get better with time, and some people take a lot longer to do well on chicken. Take care. Guest guest
Thanks, Donna, Yes, I definitely ate without chewing it well enough and probably too fast. It was my first bite or two so I don't think I ate too much. I got such horrible pains in my pouch that I thought I was going to have to go to the hospital. It was scary. This has happened only once before and it was a case of not paying enough attention to how I was eating. I have now learned to make sure I sit at a table and cut my meat or food in very small pieces. The pain was definitely a reminder that I need to pay better attention to my eating (old habits crop up once in a while). I seem to have to have chicken very very moist with a sauce or shredded to eat it comfortably, and this was not the case. Thanks for your help. Guest guest
--- Kristie, Oh I wish it was only post op. No, I lost 40 before surgery and now I have lost 37 lbs since surgery. I read somewhere that is about normal for 2 months out but I sometimes get insecure that I am doing everything right and am losing enough. I am thrilled with the 77 lbs. though, don't get me wrong. I just have a hard time believing that I am actually doing it this time. Pam E.
