Guest guest
Well we have cancelled our flight home Sunday and our staying indeffiantly at this point. I keep telling my self over and over " we are doing the right thing deal with life and results of us staying when we get home be a good mom now and don't worry about anything but him " . I honestyly know deep down we are doing the right thing though and I'm so glad we came. If you go to our website under Collin's Foot Story at http://www.geocities.com/chele323232 under the March 2005 post it says what Dr. Herzenberg wanted to do to Collin and shows a sample photo of the external fixator taylor spatial frame. We came here for a second opinion and our so happy we did Dr. Ponseti does not think he needs that at all!!!!!! He put Collin in a long leg cast today and Collin looks up at me during the visit and says mom I love this doctor. It brought tears to my eyes because I do too! We go back on Wedesday for another cast and will find out a better estimate how long we will be in Iowa for. He is going to schedule a tibia transfer so he will have a surgery while we are out here but we are ok with that. He will go into casts afterwards too not sure how many yet, I'll know more Wednesday. We will continue to stay at the Mc House everyone is very nice. If anyone knows anything about the tibia transfer I would love for you to e-mail me. I'm not going to be able to keep up on the boards while I'm here but I will check e-mail when ever I can our e- mail is chele323232@... We were very excited today to have lunch with Tabitha & and talk to on the phone it was so nice to have someone to talk to. My husband is going to talk to his work Monday about the family leave act to see if he can come to Iowa for Collin's surgery and my little brother may drive up and visit one weekend. Also my biggest tip for all of you coming is pack some warm cloths!!! It's chilly at night and in the morning and when we looked at the weather online it said like 90's during the day but a cold front has come through so dummy I am packed all shorts! So our family is going to put toghter some cloths to send to us hopefully tommorow if not we are just going to hit the local stores. Talk to you soon and thanks again for all of the support on getting here! Michele Michele
Guest guest
... OMG, wow... I'm in tears here. That is really such great news. And yes... you are doing the best thing for him so hold your head high and don't worry about all the rest right now. It'll come together in the end... just like this did. You're one amazing mama and your son will thank you for all you did for him. That's all that matters... I hope your dh can come out to be with you for the surgery. If you have time, let us know more about the surgery, what, why, the expected results, etc. You know I'm not questioning... just curious to learn about it! If there's anything we can do for you while you're there, please let us know. If we can send you anything to make the stay more comfortable, I'm sure we can get it together amongst us. Just let us know what it is that you need. Tunes maybe? lol! Let me know what you like and I may be able to make you a few CD's or something. I don't know... I just want to give you a hug or something and can't, I'm searching for something to do for you lol! Big hugs to you and Collin, I'll be waiting with baited breath to hear more of your adventures in Iowa! You know, will be there on Monday for 's appointment. I think she's staying at the RMH too. I talked to her on the phone last weekend, she's lovely. How cool for both of you to be there at the same time! OK - time for me to run. Dh took the kids fishing in the rain (yes, the rain is back here in Oregon) and I'm getting to go out with my cousin and see naked men again. Whoohoo! (maybe you and can find naked men in Iowa?? LOL!) Kori At 05:11 PM 9/16/2005, you wrote: >Well we have cancelled our flight home Sunday and our staying >indeffiantly at this point. Guest guest
Michele, I am so happy for you! Sounds like you had a rough day for sure, but I guess it was already worthwhile just finally meeting Dr. Ponseti. It just makes your heart melt that Collin said he loves Dr. P -- how amazing is that? I can't wait to hear more about everything, keep us posted!! > Well we have cancelled our flight home Sunday and our staying > indeffiantly at this point. Guest guest
Michele, I am so glad that you finally made it. It just goes to prove that the mommy instinct that you had about all of this was right. I will pray that everything goes well for Collin. Jenni --- wrote: > Michele, > I am so happy for you! Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the warm wishes and support. We just e-mailed my husband our " demand list " LOL!! Now that we will be here longer he is going to mail us a few more things to get by. Collin is watching teenage mutant ninja turtles and relaxing. He already won't let me touch his wheel chair he just wants to do it himself....my poor toes and heel he keeps getting me, he may just be doing it for fun I'm not sure yet. He had a rough night last night being the first night in casts in over a year but is much better so far today. The biggest thing we are dealing with now is the whole bathroom thing. He is potty trained but can't really stand, etc.... It's a whole learning process, I made him wear a pull up to bed last night so he was pretty mad at me, but I'm so afraid if he has an accident then we will ruin the cast, etc. He won't do it during the day he insists on his underwear, so I'm having my husband go buy some in the next size up today to make things easier on me. Everyone at the RMH is very nice. We may try to wonder out today to a grocery store to pick up a few things, its nuts though the refrigerator is packed with everyone's stuff so I don't even think there is room in there for us to buy anything. I'll have to talk to the people here first to see if they have a back up spot we could use. If anyone has any info on tibia transfers or tendon tranfers please e-mail it to us at chele323232@... Thanks again and we will talk to you soon!!! Michele

Guest guest
Wow Michele. What a trip to get there!!! I bet you are soooooo glad you went. Did you ask Dr. Ponseti the difference in opinions between him and Dr.H? Because Dr.H is very well respected, I wonder why he thought the external frame was necessary. Also, it may be that Dr. H isn't necessarily wrong, but just has a different way to get to the final result. The frame is pretty invasive though if it can be avoided. Whew!!! Good thing you went to the pro. You know, no matter how great a doctor is, it never hurts to get another opinion. Good luck and keep us posted!!! Guest guest
Michele, I'm so glad you had a better time with Angel Flights this time. They have been so wonderful to us. From all the posts I've read in the past it sounds like seeing Dr. Ponseti for a second opinion is always the right thing to do! Good luck with the surgery and keep us posted. and 11/10/03 bilateral cf dbb 14/
