Guest guest
And gents, don't you forget your prostate and the other important parts of yourself. My therapist just dodged the testicular cancer monster last year. Get your check ups. Terri, thanks for reminder, for all of us, especially the testicular cancer. When I was still working as a nurse-midwife, I tried to remind the husbands/partners of testicular self-exams while I was doing the mom's breast exam. Most people have no idea of the number of young men who develop testicular cancer, although I think Lance Armstrong has helped to raise awareness. We used to have some little handouts on the self-exam; I don't know if they still do. Most of the guys would get pretty embarrassed at the mention of it, but I still gave a brief explanation & encouraged the woman to remind him, or do it herself! That would always bring a laugh. Some couples become very motivated & learn to examine each other. Of course, men also need to get any breast tenderness or lumps checked out also. % wise, much fewer men get breast cancer, but the death rate is much higher due to reluctance of men to get checked, as well as some ignorance among health care providers regarding male breast cancer. So, guys & friends/lovers of guys, make sure we ALL do what we can to stay healthy & alive! Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22 Climb to the top of the charts! Guest guest
Rose, My therapist is only in his 50's and when he found his testicular lump, he was told that he might as well be ready for treatment for cancer because there was only a small chance is was not. He went in know when he woke up there would be discussions regarding cancer treatments, etc. He woke up to find out him tumor was benign - he was so relieved. I never saw any male breast cancer but I know that it is out there. I had my mammogram and did not have to wait afterwards so I know that it is clear. I haven't had one since 1998 - I won't wait that long again. Take care. Terri G. > > > And gents, don't you forget your prostate and the other important parts of yourself.
