Guest guest
Hi. My daughter is 6'21 " and is 21. I don't want her to have RNY because I don't want her to be on vitamins for tyhe rest of her life. She is way too young. I just read that people with RNY lose 55% of their fat while the lap band people lose 51. So what? The lap band is a much healthier option. Especially for young people. I told everyone about my friend who vomits too much who had the lap band. And I also did research for myself and it said that if I am a nibbler, the RNY is the better choice. But we are talking very young here. I don't believe in this surgery for young people. They lap band is also reversable, not the RNY. Guest guest
One of the main things to realize about the RNY vs lapband on young people, is that part of Kaiser program to become approved is all them attempts at loosing weight with surgery being your last option. I don't believe young people can say they've tried everything. We all can speak from experience that from time to time we were able to loose weight with other programs. Young people have more available to them in terms of assistance then many of us did years ago. I think that if we're talking over 18 but under 30-35 then they should continue to try all more programs, instead of resorting to surgery. I go to the classes and know why their are soo many people in there over 40-45. They have lived more then 1/2 there life with the struggle and are truely in the best position to know what they have and have not tried. So much emphasis is put on young youthfull appearance today in a society that has young people more vain then ever. Getting off the soap box.. LISA > > Hi. My daughter is 6'21 " and is 21. Guest guest
My son's case is because he has polyps in his esophagus due to acid reflux...the point of doing the surgery is to isolate the acid. But weight wise you are right.....it should always be the last resort. > > > > Hi. My daughter is 6'21 " and is 21.
