I think you will get a lot of different answers to this question regarding

shoes. My answer, based on my experience, is that the shoe really doesn't

matter as long as it fits well and is comfortable to the child to wear it.

At Wal-Mart they sell just regular old fashioned looking baby boots - those

white leather high tops with a soft rubber sole. I love using those myself,

they wash up great in the machine and you can polish them back white when they

scuff up. Not a total fashion statement but very comfortable. I do use other

shoes though - I just use what is comfortable to him though, not what is cute or

popular.

Like you, when Everett is out of his FAB, he goes barefooted 95% of the time.

Dr. P always told me barefooted was best when ever possible, and add to that the

poor kid has to wear the FAB 14 hours a day (night) anyhow, give those feet a

break! I say just aim for comfort and common sense. " Party " shoes for the

holiday season, etc., should be kept to a minimum but you can use them for

special occasions. And with any new shoe, break it it gradually and keep a eye

out for blisters, pinching, etc.

first pair of walking shoes

Our son was born with bcf on 9/9/04. He's now at the point where he

wears them at night and during naps, but he's at daycare during the

day. We haven't been putting him in shoes when he's out of the

Markells because it was warm and we could get away with it. Plus, I

didn't want to torture him with more shoes. I wanted to give him a

break. Now that its getting colder and he's getting ready to walk, I

wanted to buy him a pair of shoes, but I wasn't sure if there was

something in particular I should look for.

Right now, he doesn't walk by himself, just cruises. Has any of your

drs recommended either a specific type of shoe or brand?
