Guest guest
I know exactly what you mean! My sister-in-law doesn't know what detergent is and she gives us her kids' dirty toys all the time. (we let our cat play with them!) Her daughters' clothing and toys are always filthy, and I'm so anal retentive Aleksander's bibs are even immaculate. My husband makes fun of me all the time, but I want to take good care of our things, whether they were bought on clearance, at a garage sale, or if they are brand new and expensive. I love Oxy Clean! A little bit of that goes LONG way and I was even able to get my neices' ground in dirty clothes clean the last time we watched them. Hooray for detergent! > > > Our son was born with bcf on 9/9/04. Guest guest
Do you dry them too? I've been told putting tennis balls in the dryer helps keep them from getting lumpy... > > > > Our son was born with bcf on 9/9/04. Guest guest
Too funny, ee! Boy can I sympathize. We get oodles and oodles of clothes handed down to us (sometimes from folks we don't even know who give it to our friends/family) and more than half the stuff barely makes the cleaning rag grade. If we cannot use it, I try to pass it on to thrift shops if it's clean and in pretty good shape. But there's a lot of it that doesn't make that cut. Guess I cannot complain about folks trying to help us out (or clean out their closets). That's a little different than someone trying to actually sell the worn out stuff at garage sales!! Bet they're glad to see you MIL come along so they don't have to drag it back into their houses! Kim number23 wrote: I wish I could convince my MIL to stop giving us used shoes...although Evy wears shoes very little, I am kind of picky that he wears only HIS shoes but then she's like asking, did those shoes fit??? (why isn't he wearing them?) But then again, God love her, my MIL gives me so much pure crap it isn't funny the amount of stuff she gives me that she finds at yard sales and stuff - and I'm not against yard sales but what I mean is she hands me bags full of stuff that is so worn out, dingy, stained up, ripped up, busted zippers, missing buttons.....!!! She actually goes to sales and takes all the left over stuff the person didn't manage to sell and I'm thinking, " Um, there's a reason no body bought this! " One thing I put in the washer and it litterally fell to pieces! LOL! She says, " Oh they're just kids who cares what they wear! " and I'm gasping inside myself cuz I try to keep my kids clean and neat when they aren't just flat out playing in the mud, kwim? It's probably 2nd hand shorts they have on but the aren't stained and ratted out. Anyway, totally off topic, sorry. s. Re: first pair of walking shoes-second that!! I've been told this before about second hands shoes too, ee. Bums me out because we saved all of Lily's older sister's shoes and have the same style in a whole range of sizes (which would have helped with the different size foot issue since Lily is unilateral lcf). But I guess I'll have to resist the temptation to use them when Lily gets to that point (a while from now; she turns 6 months today). Kim > > Our son was born with bcf on 9/9/04. Guest guest
Most things I air dry, but I have found that with stuffed toys, to put them in a pillow case tied shut before I wash and put the whole thing in the dryer like that and they come out fluffy. Some how with out being in a case the fuzzies get matted and ruined. s. Do you dry them too? I've been told putting tennis balls in the dryer helps keep them from getting lumpy... Guest guest
Fortunately my mother manages our town Cloths Closet where needy folks can get free clothing in a pinch...I sort through the stuff and toss out the worst of it and give the rest to the CC but admittedly a lot of stuff doesn't even to there. This last batch of stuff MIL gave me, she literally dug it out of a dumpster! s. Too funny, ee! Boy can I sympathize.
