Guest guest
I think it depends on each child but eventually they'll ease back to a normal place. s. Feet Position When Learning to Walk- Question??? My 13mos old is pulling herself up to stand and just starting to " cruise " . She will push a chair from our dinning room and " walk " around on our hardwood floors. I am thrilled with the progress she is making. My question is- when do they put their feet in normal forward position? When she stands or walks, she has her feet shoulder width apart and turned out at 70 deg, just like when in her brace. When I see pictures of children with corrected CF, they stand with toes pointed in normal direction. When does this happen? Just curious- Jen Ava (1-18-02) Addie (8-2-04) Dobb's Brace 16/
Guest guest
My son, who will be 10 months this weekend, has been " walking " with a lot of help from my husband and I for a bit now. He started out walking like an old soldier, stiff legged and without really bending his knees. His feet were pointing out then as well. He also stood like that, with his legs apart and feet out. Now that he's been pulling himself up to standing for a month or more, and slowly moving along the furniture, his knees are bending properly, and his feet are in a more normal position. When we hold his hands and let him " walk " his feet are also fairly normal, and he no longer does the stiff-legged soldier walk. I'm guessing that once she gets more familiar with walking and standing it will get better. How long is she in the shoes every day? Our doctor just told us we can go down to nights only (which is 12 hours), but we're being cautious and Aleksander is in his shoes 14 hours a day. I did notice that when we reduced him the last time, the outward turning was better as well. Not sure if that was because he was able to stand more, or if it was because of the reduced wear. Perhaps both... > My 13mos old is pulling herself up to stand and just starting > to " cruise " . She will push a chair from our dinning room and " walk " > around on our hardwood floors. Guest guest
Hi Jen, I'm not sure when exactly it happens. I have to say that Lhea, my daughter 15 months - when she started walking, I didn't even notice that her feet were not as if they were in the brace. I do know that she still has that flexibility and wears them for 14 hours a day. I have seen though some babies her age or younger where they have walked sooner and their feet have been overly corrected and I am guessing it's a great thing - I know that their feet will go to a " 0 " degree with time. wrote: My 13mos old is pulling herself up to stand and just starting to " cruise " . Guest guest
Hi Jenn, My son will turn 2 tomorrow (!) and he started walking at 14 months. His feet too were flopping way out--just as though they were in the shoes. He still walks with his feet pointing out a bit but nothing like when he was younger, and really when watching him walk and run you would never know what he has been through. It's been real gradual, though. Beth wrote: My 13mos old is pulling herself up to stand and just starting to " cruise " . Guest guest
My son is 3 1/2 and started walking on his own at 10 months. It wasn't until he was over 2 that he started walking with his feet straight. We used to say he walked like enstein. > My 13mos old is pulling herself up to stand and just starting > to " cruise " .
