New consult scheduled Need Hotel Info.

Hello,

Recently joined group. Have been sitting back soaking up the info

from all you out there. It's been a long haul to get me this far.

Started this journey 4 years ago. originally scheduled for RNY in

Grand Rapids, MI. BCBS turned me down for lack of documented weight

loss attempts. Well, I have the required (no longer Required) 3

years of documented attempts. I think it is turning out to be a

blessing that they turned me down since now I have learned of the

BPD/DS. I am scheduled for september 19 with Dr. Ren in Mid-town

Manhattan, New York. Wondering if anyone can tell me about the

hotels in the area. Reasonable rates etc. My husband is going to

take off work to drive me there the day of my appointment and plan to

stay over and take off fresh in the am for Home in GR Michigan. Any

help would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone knows if there is

a place to park a fifth wheel or camper in the area please let me

know as it would be nice to be able to stay a few days after surgery

and the camper would be cheaper then the hotel. Thank you all.

Hi ,

I don't think there is anyplace in Manhattan that would allow you to park a

camper, nor do I think it's safe to park on the streets. There are some nice

people around on this list who live outside of the city in private homes who

might let you park in their driveway on their street if it's legal in their

community.

Out side of that there are many private campgrounds either upstate NY or in New

Jersey where you can use your fifth wheel and drive into the city, usually 1-2

hour drive.

When I lived in NY we went camping a lot at these places.
