Guest guest
Often the shoes are set at 60 rather than 70 but I do not know why exactly. Everett has been wearing a 60 degree shoe for nearly 2 years with excellent results. s. HELP: & Ponseti/ brace okay, came out of his cast 2 days early due o the fact that he had worn out the heels from kicking. I called Dr Ponseti's office, which they said would be okay to soak them off and to move him into the P/M. Well so far so good, I guess, but I noticed they are set at 60 degrees. Aren't they suppose to be on 70? Side note: we have had them on for about 4 hours now and they have remained on longer than we could ever get from the Markell/DDB - YAHOO! mom to BL CF __________________________________________________
Guest guest
We started in the shoes at 70 degrees; at our next appt a few months later, Ponseti changed them to 60. This doesn't answer anything except we had one of the very first pairs of shoes and they did begin with 70 but reduced it soon after. s. Re: HELP: & Ponseti/ brace There's a bit of confusion about this. Dr. Ponseti and set them at 60 degrees, something to do with the shoe design. And I think for the Atypical feet they may be doing 60 as a matter of course. I knew about this and expected to use them at 60 degrees when we got our pair a few months back but when I compared them exactly to her Markell's on the bar 60 wasn't enough, I didn't want to reduce her at all and if I set them at 60 she would have absolutely been reduced. The PM's at 70 are exactly the same abduction as the MArkell's at 70 so that's where I put them. I'd email or call Dr. P and ask him what he wants for , he knows these shoes and now he knows 's feet. He'd be the best one to clarify this with. Congrats to you and for getting out of casts! Whoohoo! Any pics of feet that the hands of an angel have fixed? huh? huh? I so wanted to cry when I saw your pics, same with the ones from the symposium. I just wanna hug on that old man so much! You can totally see the love he had for when he was working on him... I'm just so thrilled for you! Kori At 06:19 PM 10/10/2005, you wrote: >okay, came out of his cast 2 days early due o the fact that >he had worn out the heels from kicking. Guest guest
Our last pair of P/M shoes also came set at 60 degrees and I wondered what to do. I called and he said they are all set at 60 degrees now becuase that is what Dr. Ponseti told him to set them at. I emailed my Doctor (Scher in NYC) and Dr. Ponseti and quickly heard back from both off them. Here is the email and about as direct as you can get :-) ------------------------------------- September 16, 2005 You are correct that we have recommended setting the Markell shoes on the Denis Browne bar (the open toe lace up footwear which has been used for many years) at 70 degrees of outward rotation, but we have found 60 degrees in the shoes is about the same angle so we are now recommending 60 degrees for the brace. Dr. Scher did check with me last week on this matter and I told him the same thing. Best regards. I.V. Ponseti, M.D. > There's a bit of confusion about this. Guest guest
Of course I have pics. I will get them on the CFPICS asap. I emailed Dr. Ponseti so hopefully I can get clarification soon. He seems to be doing okay. Question: how do you know where to place a rolled blanket or pillow under the legs to help them be more comfortable. frogabog wrote: There's a bit of confusion about this.
