Guest guest
If so, where could I find the materials to make these things, since I doubt they're produced commercially? Anyone have any ideas??>> Liane, Why not try a fabric store? If they dont have the materials you might be able to ask them if they know where you can get them. Then, if you get anywhere, and it works, you just might have a business for yourself! As for the hair falling out all over......yeah its normal! Mine lasted from 3 1/2 months to 6 months. I kept mine short to avoid having to mess with the hair being everywhere. (wasnt much in the bed either by keeping it short!) It was mostly upon brushing it in the morning and/or washing it. Guest guest
I wondered about that.. I also might just " cheat " and buy a couple of those " support belts " you see advertised in that Dr Leonards' catalog.. I'd only have to move the end with the hooks in.. but I'll check the fabric store.. I'm trying Ace wraps, but its ITCHY, lol. .....but its saving me from getting whacked by my batwings, lolol.. Guest guest
Li, you silly thing.. simply cut a hole in the sewn end of a pillow case and secure with large rubber band.. go for the spanish cha-cha look.. ) .. about your hair.. you know it's normal for it to fall out, but it will do it in cycles.. it'll fall out weather you brush it or not.. you just notice it more when it has been in a pony tail a while and not able to fall out. I have been promised it will grow back, so I wouldnt hack it all off just yet.. Love you!! Guest guest
If you are successful with the fabric store you are on your way! Ace bandages would be ok for awhile but not long term....what about that material they use for the support stockings? You could cut those off at the feet.......have you thought about plastic surgery? That would be a great option once you lose most of your weight! Hugs, Judie
Guest guest
Hi Liane, In response to your second question, I'm 17 weeks post-op and the way you've described your hair loss is exactly what I started experiencing, around week 12 I think. Also in the bathtub drain. I have to sweep the bathroom floor daily. I still have lots left though I have gone above shoulder length now for the first time in years. Thank goodness I only have one extra chin now instead of three. I'm going to get the zinc and biotin on board real soon. Really wish I knew when it was going to stop. Doc said it was different for everyone. Just want to know if I should start looking at wigs. Has your bathroom problem lightened up any? Hope so. Guest guest
Liane, My hair falls out everywhere. Most especially in the shower when I wash it, then it seems to come out by handfulls. But also comes out when I brush, and just in general. People at work are constantly pulling hairs off my back, I'm pulling them off my desk, etc. I cut off about 7 " of hair since surgery (in two stages), and had already cut off several inches before surgery. I am totally loving it! I cannot imagine losing this much hair, with my hair as long as it was before! Yuck. I had grown out my hair for over 10 years before surgery, and almost cried as I let her cut off the last big chunk (about 4 " ) but now I totally LOVE it. The support stocking idea is a good one! Very little labor for moi, but good support! I have thought about PS once I've lost all the weight, I just was hoping to improve the skin tone now- if they're baggy after only a 60 lb loss, I don't wanna think how they'll look after 160 lbs <EEEEK!>. I knew from the start that I was looking at a brachioplasty and thigh lift once I lost a lot of weight.. the TT is only a maybe.. but the arms & thighs.. =P those are definites, unfortunately. Unless my new miracle " blob girdles " actually work, lol. Good Idea, Judi- Tanks! Hugs, Liane PS- Soozles!! I can hide them awful arms in clothes, lol.. but I'm hoping to help them by giving support! heh heh.. usually i go sleeveless in the summer even tho I do hate my arms, cuz I'm a creature of comfort. Guest guest
Liane, I think if your panni is pretty big and you cant get the tummy tuck then just the panni removal would be a big improvement plus most insurance does cover that one and most often they do cover tt too! So, I really dont think you have to worry about that.....make sure and document rashes you get in the skin folds becuz that is used to prove to the insurance co you really do have a problem! I think I would want to go for the brachioplasty and inside thigh lift once the weight is off....(my inside thighs are like wobbly cottage cheese right now and some jello action under the arms too.....I call the latter " hanging loose with Jesus " lol) Man....one day soon you are going to be a knock out once your whole body is put back where it belongs! Guest guest
Hi Liane, Congrats on your loss to date! I have a suggestion for " support " material which may or may not help, but here goes: Back in the day (insert violins here), I lost 95lbs on a liquid fast. I was 165 for all of about five minutes and had MAJOR sag-butt from the loose skin. This wasn't a problem EXCEPT that I was going to the gym a lot at the time and the " flap-n-jiggle syndrome " made aerobics uncomfortable. (Sadly, I don't have this problem anymore, but one day...) I bought tights from EVERYWHERE: danskin, junonia, target, copeland sports, etc. trying to find a pair that held me tight. I finally found a pair at a little place called Title 9 Sports in Berkeley, CA (http://www.title9sports.com). They have a pair of tights called " Locks Tights " that have 32% Lycra in them. No jiggle! I swear! I was thinking that, if the support hose idea doesn't pan out, you could get a pair of tights and cut them up for the fabric? Unfortunately, they're not cheap ($39). Or maybe you could find fabric with the same composition in a fabric store (32% lycra, 40% cotton, 22% nylon)? Gawd, I miss those days when I could fit into those tights, but they're kept away under the bed for the day I'm not MO again. I'm usually not the endorser-type, but I swear wearing those tights is one of the things I miss about losing all that weight. I always thought they were the best thing outside of PS. I even wore them under pants! (p.s. Title 9 doesn't have much for BBW, but they do have sports bras up to 42DDD/40E) Good luck. And btw, I LOVED your wedding pictures! > I have thought about PS once I've lost all the weight, I just was > hoping to improve the skin tone now- if they're baggy after only a 60 > lb loss, I don't wanna think how they'll look after 160 lbs <EEEEK!>. > I knew from the start that I was looking at a brachioplasty and thigh > lift once I lost a lot of weight.. the TT is only a maybe.. but the > arms & thighs.. =P those are definites, unfortunately. Guest guest
Judie, At this point my hair is just barely shoulder length; I use a large curling iron to smooth it, and flip the ends up. I also have bangs, as I seem to be losing more hair in the front, and I feel it helps. I really love it. People keep saying " every time I see you your hair is shorter! " , which is funny. I had long hair for years, and even though I cut it off in several steps, each one has been noticeable, after years of no change but sloooow growth. Honestly, I think it looks more " in style " now, and it feels great. Dawna
