Guest guest
Hey guys, Okay, Aidan is now 14 months old and his feet are looking great shoes have been fine. All the sudden though he's getting red marks across the tops of his feet. This morning they were the darkest red (they usually fade throughout the day). I thought about losening the straps but he's pulled his feet out before even when they are on tight. Why is this happening all the sudden? I know there has been a ton of emails about this but you know how it is when you're busy and it doesn't apply to you it's easier to pass over. Okay, now we need help!!!! :-) Also, I got Aidans haircut for the first time and the lady said he had cradle cap!?!? Isn't this something babies get within the first 3 months? I never even noticed his scalp as I've never seen flakes. But sure enough when you pull his hair back the top of his head, only, is yellowish in color and the skin looks dry and flakey??>??? What the??? Has anyone experienced this? --------------------------------- Yahoo! Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs. Try it free. Guest guest
Gabe has these yellowish flakes on his scalp too, but only along his scar from his skul surgery. Noone could tell me what it waas... not the pediatrician.. not the neurosurgeon. It doesn't seem to be hurting him though so... Sorry I can't really comment on the shoe situation. Gabe never really wore Markell's, so I don't know enough to comment. Someone will be able to help though, I know! Have you read Kori's Tips and TRicks yet? I think it's in the Files section. Guest guest
Grace has these marks too. They come and go but have never bothered her. I notice that when she is extra active in her brace, that's when they tend to show up. I think it must be just some extra pressure on the top of the foot from the strap. Like I said, they have never seemed to bother her and they too do fade during the day. How is your little guy feelin otherwise? Guest guest
Jen- i am jealous-david has yet to need a haircut. Cradle cap(As terrible as it sounds) can last up to and past the 1 year mark. It can easily be treated with a little baby oil and a good shampoo. It's caused by excess oil-yeah I know-put oil on oil-doesn't make sense. had it and I just noticed that it has slowly disappeared. Before Aidan's bath-rub baby oil on the spot and run a comb/brush over it. Then shampoo! Make sure you dry his head really well. Or if its not noticeable, you can just let it go. It will disappear on its own once his sweat/oil glands balance out. the red marks-do his feet look wider?? I am just thinking that if his feet are wider and you are tight/tight on the strap-that it may be causing a little extra pressure on the skin-thus the red mark. Just an idea-i would add maybe an extra sock/thicker sock or some more padding/foam to the tongue. If the red marks eventually disappear during the day, I wouldn;t worry so much. If the shoes were bothering Aidan-I am sure he would let you know! Have a good one! Guest guest
The head thing definitely sounds like cradle cap. I used to take a soft bristled baby hair brush and lightly scrub the girls heads when I shampooed their hair and this helped loosen it up. You could also try rubbing in some baby oil before you shampoo with the same technique. This worked really well for us and when the girls were infants I used the brush when washing their hair also as a preventative. Guest guest
Hi , Aidan is doing great. No infections to speak of and he is just about caught up to babies his own age. In fact, the only thing he's not doing yet is walking. He's been cruising around furinture forever but just hasn't worked up the corage to let go. He's also starting to go from a crawling position to legs straight out with butt in air like he's trying to stand up. He'll do that look around then proceed to crawling. He no longer has to go to physical therapy as his therapist said he's right on track and can't at this time see anything wrong with him. We've truly been blessed!!!! Thanks for asking. How's Grace doing? I love her name. You know Aidan is so much more active and has managed to pull his feet out of his shoes so I'm hoping that is what the red marks are from. Thanks for the input. I just don't want blisters.. Hugs, Jenn wrote: Grace has these marks too. They come and go but have never bothered her. Guest guest
That is weird. If you find out what it is, let me know. Hundley wrote:That's weird. Aidan also had surgery on his head and that is predominantly where the yellow is? faith slattery wrote:Gabe has these yellowish flakes on his scalp too, but only along his scar from his skul surgery. Guest guest
Our oldest dd had cradle cap. The oil thing never worked for us (did seem to make it worse). Her pediatrician told us to use Selson Blue shampoo every other day or so. He told us to rub it in, let it sit for a couple minutes, scrub again & rinse it. It worked like a champ! I was a little nervous to use dandruff shampoo on an infant, but since the Doc suggested it I went with it. Cleared it up quickly. Lily hasn't had cradle cap. We do use a soft bristled brush to gently scrub her hair/scalp when shampooing (as Jenni suggested). hth, Kim Jenni Cypher wrote: The head thing definitely sounds like cradle cap. Guest guest
Hi Jenn, I am sooo happy to hear that Aidan is doing so well!!!!! And no more PT, that is great! Knew he would catch right up after I saw pics of him...he is such a little cutie! Grace cruised for a long while, about 2 months before she took off. Once she did 'let go' she was walking well within a week, amazing how fast it happens once they build up the courage. He will be running around before you know it! Enjoy this time of 'containment' while you have it! I am going to post a pic of Grace on the cfpics site, haven't sent one in ages. Would love to see a recent pic of Aidan! & Grace > > > > Hey guys, > > > > Okay, Aidan is now 14 months old and his feet are looking great > shoes have been fine. Guest guest
Jen, Are his shoes getting too small? Maybe not in length but are his feet growing bigger and the hole you are using in the shoes is now causing added pressure? Mole foam on the underside of the tongue may help, removing the tongue all together, have you slit the tongue keeper slit so the tongue can sit down lower on his foot (this will change the location of where the strap is positioned a little), what about changing which slots on the sides of the shoes the strap goes through? Just a few ideas. Oh, and Sammy just got a new shoe (strap broke on the old one and they replaced the whole shoe), and we had this problem, I just put a bandaid on the top of his foot for about a week while the shoe got broken in and then he was fine. Actually, he still has a red mark there but it does not get worse and he doesn't seem to mind it so I just keep an eye on it. > > > > Hey guys, > > > > Okay, Aidan is now 14 months old and his feet are looking great > shoes have been fine. Guest guest
Thanks . I have tried some of them but not all. I was wondering though is it better to have the tongue higher or lower on the foot? I've tried to loosen them but then he pulls his foot out of the shoe... UGH, these shoes will forever be trial and error!!! They constantly keep you on your toes. Just when you think everything is peachy.. Now I sound like I've taken a personal vendetta towards an inanimate object. GREAT!!! :-) wrote: Jen, Are his shoes getting too small?
