Guest guest
Hi, everyone! I've been meaning to post for the longest time, but planning 's Big Fat Greek Baptism was so time-consuming! (It was seriously like a wedding, complete with 200 guests, 5-hour reception, dancing, favors, etc.) Now that it's over and done with, I can breathe again. Sort of. Okay, so last time, I had posted about 's various anomalies (i.e. torticollis, ptosis, dimple in base of spine, tightness in fingers, etc.) as well as his " curvy " sitting. I had thought that this " curvy " sitting was due to the torticollis, his head was leaning left, so he leaned his body towards the right to compensate. Well, not so. It ends up he has congenital scoliosis. He had an MRI done at the end of August which showed that there is a structural deformity--3-5 fused vertebrae in the lower thoracic area. The good news is that the organs, spinal cord, nerves, ribs, etc. are all fine. It's just these vertebrae that are fused. Normally, fusion surgery would have to occur. But we are holding off a little bit b/c it seems as if his vertebrae may be fused on both sides. So, we are going back at the end of next month to see if his curve has gotten worse or stayed the same or (dare I hope?) gotten better. His doc told us that he has seen cases where the vertebrae are fused on both sides and the curve just goes away on its own. What can we do? At least he's not jumping into surgery. I don't even want to think about spinal surgery. We are living in ignorant bliss for just a little while longer. Anyway, I just wanted to post. I've been here, just busy. I read (and try to reply to) posts whenever I get a chance. I hope everyone is doing well! Hugs to you all, (12-15-04 rt CF, FAB 14 hrs/day) --------------------------------- Yahoo!
