The drug is called Spironolactone.. or Aldactone. It is a very mild

potassium sparing diuretic with an odd side effect of suppressing hair

growth in traditionally " male " areas.. face, sideburns, pitts, legs,

lower belly. Generally it starts working in the first 3-6 months.. I

continued to pluck, but noticed that the hairs were fewer and softer,

& not so " prickly. " I was started on it at 25 mg 4x/day, and have been

increased up to 100 mg twice daily currently. I rarely shave my legs

or armpits, usually more as a precaution than a need. The other side

effect I have noted from this drug is breast tenderness, but its not

bad, just occasionally annoying. My potassium levels have remained

within normal limits during the entire time I've been on the drug.

Incidentally, laser hair removal is currently only effective if you

have thick dark hair.. blonde, lt brown, grey hairs are not

affected... and even where it does work, the laser treatments must be

repeated several times.

The combover... umm.. I ain't touchin that... <doubt anyone else

would, either, lolol.

Hugs,

Liane
