Guest guest
Okay...maybe I'm in the minority here...but I get embarressed when I see these MO people wearing these little short dresses, really tight clothing etc. I don't know if its that there is NO way I'd dress that way or what but its not attractive, I think it promotes getting the wrong kind of attention (for thin people tooooo) and while I'm glad they are so confident with themselves...I think its sending the wrong message. Am I being prejudice? I suppose, I don't know...its not like I'm not their size but I just would like to have a little more class and dress nice but not let it all hang out all over the place... Naw, it is just your mother's training showing. To this day I look at women of any size who wear straight skirts tight enough to cup under the butt (are there any other kind these days) as fashion failures. Mother was a first class seamstress and tailor when she wasn't being a nut case and instilled some pretty stringent notions about proper fit and design. Guest guest
would like to have a little more class and dress nice but not let it all hang out all over the place...>>> thats the key, AJ! You and I and many others are more classy than to let it hang out all over the place. Im very conscious of how I look and refuse to go out in public looking stupid. The last thing I wanted was attention to my obesity! I think the more classy people will take pains to look right.....the rest either dont care or they dont see themselves as we do. We also have to keep in mind that if its during hot weather, they are miserable and probably trying to stay cool no matter what it takes..... Guest guest
Its called 'Hoochie Mama'.. and it can be seen on Ricki Lake, Jerry Springer and shows like that, where morals are loose and clothes are tight.. this, as well as the subject matter serves to prove what 'trailer trash' mentality is around. Id rather not be 'all that' thank you very much, and keep my knees together. It seems like this kind of persona overcompensates for what they really feel, insecure and undignified. Unfortunately, the behavior is the symptom, not the problem and its the wrong way to address self esteem issues. Guest guest
I partly agree it is a self esteem issue. IMHO you would have to be nuts to go on any of those shows to air your dirty laundry anyway. I remember when I was in high school desperately wanting to look like everyone else. I would wear the tight jordache jeans (when I could find them in my size) and all the other tight " hoochie " clothing (again, if I could find it in my size) because I wanted to fit in. The Pat Benatar look was really in then too and she weighed like 90 lbs! When I looked in the mirror, I thought I looked good. I don't know what it is but even now, when I get ready to go out and put my makeup on, etc., it is like I can't see how fat I really am. It isn't until I get a load of myself in a picture or video that I am ready to shoot myself. I don't know if that happens to others but maybe it is a coping thing...or denial. Anyway, I keep telling my husband when I lose all my weight and get my plastic surgery, I am going to be a Juggy on " The Man Show " . LOL He hates when I say that! Hunter June 18, 2001 Dr. Gagner BMI 61 As of August 10, 2001 -57 lbs BMI 52...whoo hoo! > Its called 'Hoochie Mama'.. and it can be seen on Ricki Lake, Jerry > Springer and shows like that, where morals are loose and clothes are > tight.. this, as well as the subject matter serves to prove what > 'trailer trash' mentality is around. Guest guest
And I fight being really judgmental when I see thin adult women wearing skimpy clothes.. not shorts or summer wear.. but stuff that evokes a thought that they were cheated out of enough material to cover their butt, thighs or breasts. I figure they are dressing for someone else's benefit.. and then I think about how awful that must be to wear such stuff so one other person will think you are sexy or the like. in Seattle > Okay...maybe I'm in the minority here...but I get embarressed when I see these MO people wearing these little short dresses, really tight clothing etc

Guest guest
Yeah, I think you are prejudice. Anytime you say anything about " MO " people, try putting the word " black " in there instead to see how that sounds. If it sounds bad, then don't say it. It still seems to be " okay " to bad mouth MO people. I think everyone should do what they want to do. If you can't handle it, too bad. I saw a segment recently with Bill Maher where he was saying how fat people shouldn't be at the beach because they aren't " attractive. " Well fuck you guy, you're not so attractive yourself. He's an idiot to boot. Donna >

Guest guest
Boy...attitude... I thought alot about this and I dont think I'm prejudiced...I just have more class than some. However...just because I don't like that style of dress, doesn't mean I'm not nice and even friends with people that choose to dress that way. I am however allowed to not like it. I think it's tasteless, whether MO or thin...its simply not a style or message I care to send out. I don't appreicate you suggesting I'm prejudice against blacks either...that wasn't even the context of my original message...I think you completely read it wrong. Sorry if you find it offensive to dislike a style of dressing AJ " Donna " wrote: >Yeah, I think you are prejudice.
