Guest guest
Yeah Holly! Even if it not the best article in the world, it has some good stuff in it and hopefully will be read by someone who can benefit from it. > > Here is the article on ABC news - was on their site back in September. > Not quite sure how we missed it, as we were checking the site > religiously (or so we thought)... > > http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=1159964 & page=1 > > I was bummed that they didn't say the name of the nosurgery4clubfoot > group... > > Holly > Zachary 7/27/02 > Unilateral Right C/F > Treated by Dr. Ponseti > DBB Nights Only >

Guest guest
How cool! I was just thinking about this the other day, wondering what had come of the proposed article. Good one for Zach/Zack's baby book. A couple of things made me wonder about the level of fact-checking for these kinds of internet-based stories. Is it true, for example, that 95% of children born in MI are being treated surgically today? I wonder about their sources on that one. And is the WHO (World Health Org) really promoting the Ponseti method? Perhaps they are confusing Global HELP with WHO. They did do a decent job describing the method itself--and making it sound quick and painless--which is more than can be said about some of the other " Ponseti stories " floating around out there. Guest guest
You know - I was wondering the same thing about their facts - and it just goes to show that you can't trust everything you read. I did make mention to the gal that interviewed me that some research reports only 5% success rate in methods that aren't fully Ponseti. A good example of words being taken out of context to make whatever point the writer wants made. It didn't do justice to the method - but I'm happy the story was done.... Guest guest
Even though the article seems poorly written and doesn't really flow like it should, it's great that the story was done. Now more parents have exposure to Dr. Ponseti's treatment of clubfoot and perhaps will allow them to think twice before opting for surgery. > > Here is the article on ABC news - was on their site back in September. > > Not quite sure how we missed it, as we were checking the site > > religiously (or so we thought)... > > > > http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=1159964 & page=1 > > > > I was bummed that they didn't say the name of the nosurgery4clubfoot > > group... > > > > Holly > > Zachary 7/27/02 > > Unilateral Right C/F > > Treated by Dr. Ponseti > > DBB Nights Only > > > > > > > > > > > >
