Binational Health Week has become one of the largest mobilization efforts in the Americas to improve the health and well-being of underserved immigrants and migrants of Latin American origin. Binational Health Week’s opening events will include a welcoming reception, an inaugural ceremony, and the “Binational Policy Forum on Migration and Health”. Key stakeholders and policymakers will convene to discuss immigrants’ health challenges and to explore collaborative, strategies to improve the health and well-being of this population. More than 400 high-level representatives from federal, state, and community entities of participating countries are slated to take part. The activities are co-sponsored by the Governor and the Legislature of California, the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors of the City of Los Angeles, the Secretariats of Health and Foreign Affairs of Mexico, the Consulates of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Colombia in California, the University of California, and the California Endowment in collaboration with other key institutions are endorsing this transnational effort.
